The Subway Series takes place at Citi Field on Tuesday night. Both the Yankees and the Mets are leading their respective divisions. This series is arguably more important for the Mets because they only hold a two-game lead in the National League East compared to the double-digit lead held by the Yankees in the American League East. The Mets are 13-8 in the month of July and just escaped a sweep at the hands of the Padres.

The Yankees have cooled off in July, much to do with the mounting injuries in their bullpen. Their latest injury occurred in the Orioles series when Michael King fractured his elbow. He will now miss the rest of the season. The starting rotation has been healthy for most of the season, but July has been worrisome. The Yankees are typically buyers at the trade deadline, but this year we expect them to be especially aggressive. Before that happens, though, the Yankees have a two-game set against the Mets to worry about.
