We are a team here at VegasInsider, but for the first point I want to make in this article I have to write a disclaimer: “this opinion does not reflect the ideas of the company as a whole. The idea is solely that of Reno Jonny.”

Carson Wentz is good. (Editor's note: No he isn't.)

Maybe not great, but good enough to win some games and make you a competitive team. He has shown some MVP caliber highs throughout his tumultuous NFL career, and his lows have not been terrible. While the Commanders took an opening week win against the Jacksonville Jaguars, it was not pretty. The Commanders rallied behind Wentz and two touchdown drives within the final 10 minutes of the game.

Wentz ended the game with 313 yards on 27-41 passing. He had four touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

Expectations are getting loftier by the year in the District of Columbia, but the Lions come into 2022 with equally high expectations. After falling behind 38-21 in the with just 1:41 left in the third quarter, the Lions rallied for two straight touchdown drives led by Jared Goff to cut the lead to just three points for the Eagles. The Lions would cover the 5.5 spread as the Eagles kneeled the clock out.

The Lions were featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” and they promised a more competitive team. We expect the Lions to continue on the upward trajectory, but falling behind by 17 cannot be a weekly occurrence for that to happen. The Lions will most likely get going behind D’Andre Swift who carried the ball 15 times and racked up 144 yards with a rushing touchdown. He also added 3 receptions for 31 yards.

Amon-Ra St. Brown continued his success from a year ago by hauling in eight catches, gaining 64 yards and nabbing one touchdown. The receiver room was bolstered by DJ Chark, who spent some time in Jacksonville before this season, and he caught three passes for 60 yards and one touchdown. The Lions have enough talent to surprise some people this season.

Detroit will welcome Washington to Ford Field in what we expect to be a packed house yet again. Even off a loss, the fans have to be happy with the competitive performance put up by the Lions last week. The Lion will be in unfamiliar territory as they are listed as slight favorites at the Caesars Sportsbook. They were not listed as favorites much over the last couple season but are -1.5 heading into Sunday. The Lions and Commanders are both listed at a -110 price on the spread.

Dating back to last season the Commanders are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games. The Lions have covered five straight games at home and eight of their last overall. These two franchises last faced each other in November of 2020, but Washington has not covered in four straight games played in Detroit. The Lions have won three of the last four meeting in Detroit by five or fewer points.

The Caesars Sportsbook currently has the total set to 48.5, which is understandable considering the defensive holes shown last week by both teams. The over and under both come in at a -110 price. The Commanders have seen the under at a 9-4 clip in their last 13 games overall. The Lions have trended in the other way, seeing five overs in their last seven games. The two teams have gone 8-2-1 in their last 11 meetings to the under.

Now armed with all this information, head on over to the Caesars Sportsbook to sign up and take advantage of the awesome welcome offer. All new customers will get $1,250 on Caesars, 1,000 Caesars Tier Credits, and 1,000 Caesars Reward Points. Remember to use the VIMAXSPORTFULL bonus code at sign up to redeem the offer.

Until next time, enjoy the ride.
