The defending World Series champion Atlanta Braves will square off with the host Philadelphia Phillies in the finale of a four-game NL East set. The first pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m. ET from Citizen Bank Park. Coverage will be on each team’s regional sports channel as well as MLB.TV.

This will be a pitching matchup between a pair of righties. Charlie Morton will take the mound for the Braves. Kyle Gibson is the starting pitcher for the Phillies. Morton is 9-6 with an ERA of 4.09. Gibson has a 10-7 record and his ERA is 4.71.

The Phillies took two of the first three games of the series. The Phillies won 1-0 in the first game and 9-1 in the second contest. The Braves won the last game 6-3. 

Prior to Sept. 24, the Braves were 1.5 games behind the division-leading New York Mets and in possession of the top Wild Card spot. The Braves have a run differential of +165. The Braves are 2-3 in their last five games. In their last series, the Braves took two out of three from the visiting Washington Nationals

Before Sept. 25, the Phillies were tied with the San Diego Padres for the second Wild Card spot in the NL. The Phillies have a run differential of +68. The Phillies are 3-2 in their last five outings. In the Phillies' last set, they split a pair with the visiting Toronto Blue Jays in interleague play.

Morton has allowed 134 hits, 24 home runs, and 59 walks while throwing 196 strikeouts in 163 innings. The Braves are 3-2 in Morton’s last five appearances. In Morton’s last game vs. the Nationals on Sept. 20, he gave up one earned run and three hits with nine strikeouts in 5.1 innings. 

Gibson has given up 161 hits, 21 home runs, and 44 walks, while tossing 128 strikeouts in 156.2 innings. The Phillies are 2-3 in Gibson’s last five outings. In Gibson’s last contest vs. the Blue Jays on Sept. 20, he allowed seven earned runs and 12 hits in five innings. 

Prior to Sept. 24, the Braves ranked second in home runs (224) and slugging percentage (.442), fifth in RBI (700), ninth in batting average (.253) and 10th in on-base percentage (.317). Third baseman Austin Riley leads the Braves in batting average (.280), home runs (37), and RBI (92).  Right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr. has a team-best on-base percentage of .356. Shortstop Dansby Swanson is tops on the Braves in hits (167). First baseman Matt Olson is second on the Braves in home runs (28) and in RBI (91).

Left fielder Kyle Schwarber leads the Phillies in home runs (40) and RBI (85). Third baseman Alec Bohm has a team-best .290 batting average and is tops for the Phillies with 158 hits. Catcher J.T. Realmuto is tops on the Phillies in on-base percentage (.345). 

The Braves swept the Phillies in a three-game set in the last series between the rivals from Sept. 16-18. 

Prior to Sept. 24, the Braves were 75-76 against the spread overall and 38-35 against the spread on the road. For over/under, the Braves are 73-71-7 overall and 38-30-5 on the road. 

Before Sept. 25, the Phillies were 75-75 against the spread overall and 40-39 against the spread at home. In terms of over/under, the Phillies are 75-70-5 overall and 37-37-5 at home. 

The Braves will take the finale to split the series and keep ground with the Mets.
