Luckbox Looking to Bring Esports Betting to US & Canada

The rapid growth of esports is coinciding perfectly with the quick expansion of legal betting, much to the delight of companies like Luckbox. The two recreations now find their paths intersecting as the demand for esports betting increases around the globe. Check out our review of Luckbox below!

Luckbox, a subsidiary of Real Luck Group, is an esports-focused online wagering platform based in the Isle of Man. Next up for Luckbox is tapping into the growing North American markets, particularly the US and Canada.

Luckbox's pursuit of growth even led to a deal with Raketech, an online marketing firm, in early 2022. While Canada has some marketing restrictions in place, advertising is fair game in the US.

Industry leaders like DraftKings and FanDuel have spent upwards of $100 million on marketing campaigns in an effort to expand their customer base. Luckbox may not have the funds to play at that level just yet, but it clearly realizes how valuable customer acquisition can be in the early stages of a growing market.

Currently, Luckbox offers a 100% deposit match up to $100 for new users with the bonus code listed on their website. It's possible, and perhaps likely, that when Luckbox begins offering bets in the US and Canada, it ups the ante with its welcome offer. Offers may be live in Canada once they launch, but offers are unavailable for promotion in Ontario!

The US market is already quite saturated in states where the practice is legal, so a lucrative welcome offer tied to a Luckbox bonus code may be the most impactful way to quickly onboard new customers.

In addition to a saturated market, Luckbox may find that some of the US sportsbook giants are migrating into the esports betting space. While Luckbox will also offer casino games and typical sports betting, its differentiator is esports.

As mentioned above, Luckbox offers a deposit match as its welcome offer. When it breaks into North American markets, it may make some adjustments. Other possible welcome offers include bonus bets, odds boosts on popular events, or straight up bonus cash.

Many new online sportsbooks attempt to acquire customers during major sporting events. For an esports-centric operator like Luckbox, that could mean offering even more fruitful welcome packages during the FIFAe World Cup or the Rocket League World Championships.

It remains to be seen how exactly the company attracts new users, but it will almost certainly make a concerted effort.

Signing up with Luckbox resembles most other sign up processes across the gambling and online gaming space. Users looking to play on the Luckbox platform can navigate to the website, or download the app, and follow these few basic steps:

  • Click on the "Sign Up" icon
  • Enter personal information such as name, address, email, and more
  • Provide preferred payment method
  • Enter any applicable bonus or promo code
  • Deposit and start betting!

For an esports betting platform, Luckbox is in a great spot with regards to its mobile app. That isn't meant to take away from the app as a whole, but rather to compare it to its adversaries as opposed to billion-dollar sportsbooks.

Even so, the Luckbox app stands up fairly well against the best of the best, making it more than a run-of-the-mill mobile betting app.

Users are able to peruse for different esports and leagues, place wagers, and even live stream events from the app. Some users commented in reviews that the live streaming capability can be a bit inconsistent, but it's there nonetheless.

Upon go-live in the US, Luckbox will likely add a few features, fix a couple bugs, and refine its product in totality. New users tend to have little patience for apps and platforms that aren't user-friendly. At this point, Luckbox passes the test.

On top of esports, Luckbox offers users the ability to bet on sports like basketball, soccer, hockey, and more. It covers all of the major North American sports, with the exception of baseball, and offers a wide variety of leagues and tournaments within them.

Baseball fans and bettors shouldn't be concerned. When Luckbox launches in the US, it will undoubtedly have America's pastime on its menu.

Outside of those major sports, the offering is a bit limited, with tennis as the only other sports available. Again, Luckbox is esports-focused, so it may never compete with the likes of Draftkings and FanDuel in terms of its sports offering. It's likely that Luckbox expands its offering when entering a new market to account for that customer base's preferences.

There's esports, sports, and lastly, casino games. Luckbox gives casino players the chance to have fun with table games and a seemingly never-ending list of slot games.

The site does a great job of leading users to new games, table games, big wins, and megaways. Any player can find his or her preferred casino game.

The layout and functionality of the online casino at Luckbox is top-notch and won't disappoint those who aren't as keen on sports or esports betting.

While the US may boast the most potential for growth in North America, Canada is no slouch. Because Canada's betting market is also rapidly evolving, Luckbox submitted an application to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

Ontario's legal, regulated sports betting market plans to execute its new-look launch during the first week of April 2022. If Luckbox can get its foot in the door in a burgeoning Ontario market, it may lead to quicker, more successful expansion throughout the continent.

This seems to be one of the very few areas in our Luckbox review where the operator is lacking relative to the standard set by top online gaming operators. The best online sportsbooks and casinos typically offer a plethora of customer service options like an FAQ page, email address, contact form, phone number, and a live chat.

Luckbox does offer an FAQ page and a support email, but it lacks a live chat feature and a phone number. It's FAQ page leaves a bit to be desired as well. The page has a handful of categories to direct a user to a potential answer to their question, but it fails to supply the same depth as top online sites.

With all of that being said, it's not as if Luckbox's customer service is a failure. It is perfectly fine. It just leaves a little meat on the bone, but that could also be viewed as an easy win for the company as its expansion continues.

Because it does its business overseas, Luckbox doesn't currently offer all of the payment methods that Americans and Canadians are most accustomed to. At the moment, it offers the following:

  • ecoPayz
  • Trustly
  • Skrill
  • Paysafecard
  • Neteller

There are a few additional options as well, but they are not quite as popular as the above. It's likely that a North American launch would lead to more available payment methods.

Although it is not yet legal in the US, Luckbox has deemed US expansion one of its top priorities in 2022. We'll be sure to share the news if anything becomes solidified.

If Luckbox is or becomes legal in your jurisdiction, you can expect to see markets for plenty of games, including Call of Duty, Counter Strike, Rocket League, Overwatch, League of Legends, and more.

Overall, Luckbox offers a unique and well-rounded product for its users and will continue to do so for US and Canada players in the near future. It's esports-focused but also provides sports betting and an online casino with a plethora of games.

As the esports market grows, so too will online platforms that allow users to bet on it. This esports boom is following the same trajectory as the overall sports betting market in the US and Canada as well, making those markets a hot ticket for esports operators.
