Tuesday’s Horse Racing Picks for US based tracks

Horse Racing Action at TVG!
It has been nearly three weeks since the sporting world basically shut down and it does not look as if we will see an NBA, NHL or an MLB game for months.

While horse racing continues at some tracks around the U.S. with restrictions and no fans, the future is also uncertain.

The Kentucky Derby (G1) has been pushed back to the first Saturday of September, and Keeneland has canceled the spring meeting. Arlington Park won’t race in May, and I doubt we see any racing in New York until at least May if not later. Saratoga is slated to open in July, and even that is uncertain now.

We still have racing at Gulfstream Park and Tampa Bay Downs in Florida, Golden Gate Fields in Northern California and Oaklawn Park in Arkansas. Minor tracks that are still running include Fonner Park and Will Rogers Downs and we have quarterhorse action still going from Los Alamitos and Remington Park.

So we still have enough wagering action to keep us busy for now.

Santa Anita was closed by the Los Angeles Health Department last Friday, but the track is trying to get clarification and wants to reopen.

The Santa Anita Derby (G1) and Santa Anita Oaks (G2) are scheduled for this Saturday. Stay tuned, it is possible we could see action by Saturday in Southern California.

The championship meeting at Gulfstream Park ended on Sunday and the spring/summer meeting starts on Thursday. Normally many of the top horses and trainers exit Gulfstream Park and head to Keeneland or back to New York, but this year the horse population should stay strong in Florida.

Horseplayers can stream all the horse racing action using the Watch TVG App. The horse betting company based in the U.S. is offering a risk free bet up to $300 for new players.

Keep an eye on the schedule for FS1 and FS1 and NBCSN as they will be adding some horse racing action this week as well.

My Best Plays Report for Tuesday includes my eight strongest plays from Will Rogers Downs and Fonner Park.

Tuesday’s Featured Race of the Day from Will Rogers Downs:

WRD Race 5 Md Sp Wt (3:15 CT)
#6 Dakoma Rose   4-1
#3 Quick Calisia   9-2
#7 Shadowing   7-2
#2 Smarty Gigi   6-1

Analysis: Dakoma Rose showed speed in her debut setting the early fractions before tiring to finish fourth, sent off at 5-2 in a field of 10 at Sam Houston. He catches an easier group here for the Nolen barn that is 17% winners with second out maidens. The filly is by Doctor Chit out of a Sasha's Prospect mare, her first foal to race. She earned solid early and mid pace numbers and should move forward enough with a race under her belt to take these farther.

Quick Calisia tracked thee early pace and made a mild late rally to finish in the runner up spot in the slop in her local debut. She was sixth on turf in her debut at Remington Park and then fifth at Sam Houston. This looks likely to be her first trip over a fast track if the rains stop overnight early enough. She is out of a Rubiano mare that has dropped seven winners including a pair of stakes winners, top earner Royal Nemesis ($285,392). She does not need to move forward much off her last effort to be a threat in this spot.

Wagering
WIN: #6 to win at 3-1 or better.
EX: 3,6 / 2,3,6,7
TRI: 3,6 / 2,3,6,7 / 1,2,3,6,7

Tuesday’s Featured Race of the Day from Fonner Park:

FON Race 6 OClm $10,000N4L (1:00 CT)
#7 Golden Bullet   9-2
#9 Southernaire   5-2
#4 Wild Drive   7-2
#1 Ship Stalker   10-1

Analysis: Golden Bullet makes his first starts since last November at Remington Park where she tracked the early pace and weakened to finish fifth against $10,000 claimers going seven furlongs. His last win came on turf three back where she beat Alw-1 company, the runner up coming back to win next out. He has been working well since landing here with four morning drills for the Compton barn that is 0 for 8 at the meeting but six of the starters have landed in the money.

Southernaire tracked the early pace, took over the lead and finished up well to beat La bred $20,000 non-winners of three last out at Delta Downs. The third-place finisher Navy Times came back to beat state bred Alw-3 foes in his next start and three others exited the race to run second in their next starts. He has won 2 of 3 since getting claimed for $5,000and his numbers in those two wins are good enough to beat this group handily.

Wagering
WIN: #7 to win at 7-2 or better.
EX: 7,9 / 1,4,7,9
TRI: 7,9 / 1,4,7,9 / 1,4,5,7,9

Good luck today!
