After finishing second in the East with a record of 48-24 last year, Brooklyn stumbled out to a surprisingly slow start to the new season, as the Nets opened with losses in three of their first five games – with all three of those defeats coming by 13 PTS or more (MIL, CHA, MIA).

Brooklyn completely turned things around in mid-November though, considering the Nets enter Tuesday’s contest coasting along a solid 9-3 run – with their only losses across that span coming in tough matchups against the Warriors, Suns, and Bulls.

On the other hand, Dallas jumped out to a solid start to the new season, as the Mavericks kicked things off with wins in seven-of-ten games to open the year – with their only losses coming in tough matchups against the Hawks, Nuggets, and Heat.

Dallas has looked awful since starting 7-3 though, considering the Mavericks enter Tuesday’s event following losses seven of the last nine games – which includes head-scratching losses to the Grizzlies, Pelicans, and Cavaliers.

I’ll lay the points with Brooklyn here, as the Mavericks have now scored 105 PTS or less in six of their last nine games (103.8 PPG) – which typically isn’t enough to compete against offensive powerhouses like the Nets on most nights.
