New York Giants vs. Miami Dolphins Predictions

New York will have their work cut out for them against a Miami team that has put together four straight wins. During the Dolphins four game winning streak, they have averaged 24 points per game with an average winning margin of 12.5. QB Tua Tagovailoa has been excellent. In the past two games he has gone 54/64 with three touchdowns and one interception. Expect this trend to continue not only in this game, but the remainder of this season as it looks like the Dolphins have found a playing style that works well with Tua.

With a 1-4 road record, things are not looking good for the Giants. QB Daniel Jones is questionable with a neck injury. If he is not able to play, Mike Glennon will get the start. The decision on who will get the start probably won’t be made until close to game time. Offensive coordinator Freddy Kitchens will be calling the plays for just the second time this season, but they’ll need a lot more than an offensive coordinator change to turn this team around.

I like the Dolphins at –4.5 in this one. Tua and the offense have been on a roll. There’s too much momentum to have any faith backing the Giants. It may be a close game for a bit, but the Dolphins should have command throughout and end with a win + cover.

New York Giants Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 4-7
  • ATS: 6-5
  • O/U: 3-7-1
  • ATS - Home: 3-3
  • ATS - Away: 3-2

It’s never a good sign when an offensive coordinator gets fired mid-season. Throw in a starting QB with a hurt neck and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. Former offensive coordinator Jason Garrett was fired after the Buccaneers game. Meanwhile, Jones is dealing with a neck injury and even he isn’t sure whether or not he’ll play this week.

New York’s offense ranks in the lower half of the league. They are averaging 317.5 YPG (24th), 226.6 passing YPG (18th), 90.8 rushing YPG (90.8), and 18.4 PPG (26th). If Mike Glennon does get the start, I wouldn’t expect any improvement. Glennon was 0-5 last year for the Jaguars with seven TD’s and five INT’s. This is also his sixth different team in six years, and his second offensive coordinator this year.

The Giants defense also ranks in the lower half of the league. Allowing 371.5 YPG (27th), 243.7 passing YPG (17th), 127.7 rushing YPG (26th), and 23 PPG (16th). The defense will need to figure out a way to slow down Tua and the offense. If they want to win this game, they will have to replicate their game last week against the Philadelphia Eagles. They gave up just seven points and won the game 13-7.

Miami Dolphins Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 5-7
  • ATS: 6-5-1
  • O/U: 5-7
  • ATS - Home: 3-3
  • ATS - Away: 3-2-1

After losing seven straight, the Dolphins may have found their stride, winning the past four games. Their most recent win came against the Carolina Panthers with a final score of 33-10. As mentioned before, the offense has been great, but the defense may be playing even better, giving up an average of just 11.5 points the past four games.

Miami’s offense on the season ranks poorly. Averaging 310.8 YPG (25th), 230.7 Passing YPG (17th), 80.2 YPG (31st), and 19.5 (24th). However, in their last four games they have averaged 328 YPG, 245 Passing YPG, 83 rushing YPG, and 24 PPG. With their run game being one of the worst in the league, the Dolphins should focus on throwing the ball.

Miami’s defense also struggled up until the winning streak began. This season they’re allowing 367.4 YPG (24th), 262.5 passing YPG (28th), 104.9 rush YPG (10th), and 23.3 PPG. The last four games have been much better, giving up an average of 288.5 YPG, 205 passing YPG, 83 rushing YPG, and only 11.5 PPG. The defense should have another good week against a Giants team that has averaged 15 PPG over its last three games.

Miami has covered the spread in four straight games. (AP)

New York Giants vs. Miami Dolphins Betting Conclusion

With the recent success of the Dolphins and the recent failures of the Giants, I like Miami to cover. The Giants have no value at the moment. Too many question marks to expect them to cover against a hot Dolphins team. The total is currently set at 40.5. The Dolphins have gone over in five games while the Giants have just three games that have gone over this season.

While betting on the Dolphins is never a guarantee, their chances are promising in this one. Momentum is key in the NFL and Miami has created a lot of it lately. Swimming with the Dolphins at -4.5.
