VANCOUVER CANUCKS vs. ST. LOUIS BLUES PREDICTIONS

The Canucks picked up an impressive 4-1 road win against the Stars in the Metroplex, a win which definitely went against the recent series trends. Suddenly, Vancouver has registered a 2-0-1 run in the first three games of the road trip. The Canucks have grabbed at least one point in each game of the road trip. Thatcher Demko was particularly dominant in Dallas, turning aside 35 of the 36 shots he faced. Vancouver actually fell behind 1-0 early in the second period, but rattled off four consecutive goals, including two goals from Elias Pettersson, an empty-netter for Bo Horvat and an insurance marker from J.T. Miller.

The Blues have sunk like a stone lately, going 1-3-2 across the past six games, and St. Louis bottomed out with a 7-2 loss at home against the Carolina Hurricanes. Ville Husso allowed five goals on 26 shots, including a shorthanded goal by Martin Necas just 2:37 into the game which really seemed to set the early tone. The Blues have been outscored 12-4 in the past two games, making a solid 5-2 road win against the Washington Capitals last Tuesday seem like a distant memory.

VANCOUVER CANUCKS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 32-26-9
  • ATS: 39-28
  • O/U: 31-34-2

The Canucks have found some success in unlikely places lately, registering a win at a heavy underdog (+240) at Colorado last Wednesday, winning 3-1 behind backup goalie Jaroslav Halak. They picked up a point in a 3-2 overtime loss at Minnesota on Thursday, while registering an emphatic 4-1 victory at Dallas a underdogs (+120). Big D hasn't been a place which has been very good to Vancouver, as the Canucks entered Dallas 3-8 in the past 11 visits, while going just 6-16 in the past 22 meetings.

Vancouver has registered four wins in the past five road wins, while going 4-1 in the past five as a road 'dog, too. The Canucks definitely haven't had a case of the Mondays, either, winning five of the past six games played on the day. The Canucks are 0-4 in the past four in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation (four games in six days), so that's worth filing away.

The Canucks have hit the UNDER in four of the past four games overall, while going 4-1 in the past five games as an underdog. The Canucks have cashed the UNDER in four of the past five games against teams with a winning record, too.

Vancouver has picked up four straight victories in St. Louis, while the road team is 6-1 in the past seven meetings, and the underdog is 7-3 in the past 10 meetings. The underdog has cashed in seven of the past 10 meetings, too.

ST. LOUIS BLUES BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 35-20-9
  • ATS: 35-29
  • O/U: 31-29-4

The Blues were blasted 7-2 in the most recent game at home on Saturday, its second consecutive game loss by three or more goals. The Blues are 1-3-2 across the past six games, too. St. Louis will be happy to get back to facing Western Conference teams, as the Blues have won three of the past four games against their own conference, while going 11-3 in the past 14 vs. West.

St. Louis has registered just one victory in the past eight games as a favorite, while going 0-5 in the past five games against teams with losing records. The Blues have dropped four in a row on home ice, too.

The good news is that St. Louis is 6-2 in the past eight games when losing by three or more goals, so they have learned how to put bad losses in the rear-view mirror. Still, facing a Vancouver team which has dominated them in recent seasons is a little worrisome.

For totals, the OVER has cashed in four in a row, while going 4-0 in the past four as a favorite, too. The OVER is 4-1 in the past five home games for the Blues, too, while going 5-1-1 in the past seven as a home favorite. And the Blues have cashed the OVER at an 8-1-2 clip in the past 11 following a loss of three or more goals.

VANCOUVER CANUCKS vs. ST. LOUIS BLUES BETTING CONCLUSION

The Blues are playing poorly, but perhaps a visit from a Western Conference team will snap them back on track. Of course, a visit from the Canucks isn't likely what the doctor has ordered, as Vancouver has dominated this series of late. The Canucks have won four straight skates in St. Louis, while the road team has connected in six of the past seven meetings.

You have to believe the Blues hit rock-bottom in that 7-2 spanking from the Hurricanes on Saturday night. But it's a little concerning that the past two teams have put it on the Blues by a combined 12-4. You have to like the trends on the Canucks, a team which has dominated this series. Until St. Louis turns things around and starts to play more consistently, keep fading the Blues.
