College football is finally back after the long summer hiatus. We are officially in Week 1 as we head into Saturday with a full slate of games on tap. We will focus on the Cincinnati Bearcats traveling to Fayetteville to face the rising Razorbacks of Arkansas. The Bearcats made noise last season as they made the rise all the way to the College Football Playoff.

The playoff went as expected when a team has to face Nick Saban and company for a chance at a title. Still a 27-6 loss defeat is not horrible. The Bearcats may have a hard time repeating their 2021 success with a considerable number of pieces now gone to either graduation or the NFL Draft. Most notably, Desmond Ridder will be playing on Sundays now and will not be available for the Bearcats to fall back on whenever a big play is needed.

The Bearcats lost a few key pieces on offense but will have their entire offensive line returning. The defense will be the focal point in the early going because they lost seven starters from their 2021 unit that was so dominant.

While many questions lie ahead for Cincinnati, Arkansas heads into this season with a lot of promise. They will bring back 12 starters overall, but they have brought in nine highly coveted transfers to round out their unit. They come in off a 9-4 season and with Sam Pittman at the helm will look for improvement in 2022.
