The Washington Nationals will travel to face the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game interleague weekend set. First pitch is slated for 2:35 p.m. ET from Globe Life Field. Coverage will be on each team’s regional sports channel as well as MLB.TV. 

This will be a pitching duel between a pair of righties. Jackson Tetreault will be the starting pitcher for the Nationals. Glenn Otto will take the mound for the Rangers. Tetreault has a 1-1 record with a 5.73 ERA. Otto is 4-2 with an ERA of 4.24.

Going into June 25, the Nationals were last place in the NL East and eight games back of the next closest team, the Miami Marlins. Meanwhile, the Rangers were second place in the AL West and 10.5 games behind the division leading Houston Astros. 

Before the series, the Nationals most recently split two games at the Baltimore Orioles in interleague play. The Nationals were 2-2 in their last four games prior to the set. The Rangers swept a two-game set with the visiting Phillies leading up to the series. The Rangers were also 2-2 in their last four contests going into the set. 

Tetreault has allowed 15 hits, three walks, and three home runs, along with tallying four strikeouts. Otto has given up 32 hits, 23 walks, and five home runs,  in addition to also throwing 33 strikeouts. The Rangers are 3-2 in Otto’s last five outings that he’s pitched. 

In his last outing on June 19, Tetreault pitched seven innings while giving up no earned runs, two walks and three hits vs. the Phillies. In Otto’s last game vs. the visiting Seattle Mariners on June 4, he gave up two earned runs, two hits, and a home run in five innings. 

As of June 25, the Nationals ranked eighth in batting average (.252), 13th in on-base percentage (.318), tied for 19th in RBI (281), 24th in slugging percentage (.379) and tied for 25th in home runs (58).

First baseman Josh Bell leads the Nationals in batting average (.302), RBI (45), and on-base percentage (.385). Left fielder Juan Soto is tops for the Nationals in home runs (14). Second baseman Cesar Hernandez has a team-best 79 hits. 

Leading up to the June 25 contest, the Rangers ranked eighth in home runs (87), 18th in slugging percentage (.390), 21st in RBI (279), 22nd in batting average (.236) and 25th in on-base percentage (.295).

First baseman Nathaniel Lowe leads the Rangers in batting average (.275) and on-base percentage (.323). Right fielder Adolis Garcia is first on the Rangers in RBI (46) and hits (68). Shortstop Corey Seager is tops for the Rangers with 15 home runs. 

Going into June 25, the Nationals were 31-42 overall against the spread and 16-19 against the spread on the road. For over/under, the Nationals are 37-33-3 overall and 19-13-3 on the road. 

Prior to the action on June 25, the Rangers were 41-28 against the spread overall and 20-15 against the spread at home. Regarding over/under, the Rangers were 28-37-4 overall and 14-20-1 at home. 

The Rangers should hold serve at home and close out the series with a victory.
