The New Orleans Saints were running with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a majority of their Sunday matchup, but a blistering three-minute flurry in the fourth quarter dominated by Tampa was enough to sink the Saints. The Saints led 3-0, up until the equalizing field goal by Succop as made with 6:44 remaining in the third quarter.

With 8:00 remaining in the game, the score was still 3-3. With 4:11 remaining, the Saints now faced a 20-3 deficit. The Saints were unable to capitalize on their defense holding the Buccaneers to just a field goal more than halfway through the game and the added untimely turnovers were a perfect recipe for disaster. Jameis Winston had 236 passing yards on 25-40 passing and one touchdown. He threw for three interceptions, including a pick six that ultimately put this game out of reach. Now the Saints sit at 1-1 and hit the road for a tilt with another NFC South teams.

The Carolina Panthers will be glad to head back home to Bank of America Stadium after a 19-16 loss at MetLife. The Giants rallied behind Graham Gano’s four field goals, two of which were over 50-yard tries. The Panthers had just 275 yard of offense, 10 yards more than the Giants, but still registered another loss by way of a field goal. After two straight losses by a combined five points to open the season, we expect a hungry Baker Mayfield and company.

Baker Mayfield did not live up to his draft expectations in Cleveland, and quite honestly this Carolina experiment is not going well. Through his first two games in powder blue, he has just 380 yards on 30-56 passing and two touchdowns. He also has one interception.

Caesars Sportsbook has the New Orleans Saints listed as road favorites, laying a field goal. Home underdogs in the NFL are always worth a look, and a $100 wager on the Panthers at +3 would net a profit of $90.91. Neither team has covered yet through the first two weeks, so in week three, something has to give.

The Saints are 38-15 against the spread in their last 53 road games, which is something that should be considered as an advantage when dissecting this matchup. They are just 6-19-1 in their last 26 home games. The underdog has covered in 12 of the last 16 meetings between the franchises, but the Saints have covered six of their last eight in Carolina.
