A score that will forever by a reminder for the Atlanta Falcons as a missed opportunity. Five seasons later, and the Falcons have not learned a thing. They were up 26-10 on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium against the New Orleans Saints. With 12:41 left in the fourth quarter, Younghoe Koo nailed a 27-yard field goal to cement a lead of 16 points.
The Falcons would not score again. Jameis Winston would lead three straight scoring drives in the fourth quarter capped off by a Will Lutz 51-yard goal with 19 seconds remaining in the game. Winston would finish the game with 269 passing yards on 23 completions.
While Week 1 did not go as planned for the Atlanta Falcons, the Los Angeles Rams also experienced a massive hangover off winning Super Bowl LVI. They were manhandled by the 2022 Super Bowl favorites, the Buffalo Bills. Matt Stafford tied for the lead in interceptions last season and continued that trend with three on Thursday to go along with his 240 passing yards. The Bills outpaced the Rams by 170 total yards in the runaway 31-10 Bills win.
The Rams will remain home and play hosts to the Atlanta Falcons during the early slate on Sunday. SoFi Stadium was electric for the NFL kickoff, and we expect the same electricity going into Sunday. The Rams kept much of their team intact from a season ago. Robert Woods and Von Miller were replaced by Allen Robinson II and Bobby Wagner, respectively.
The Falcons start life without Matt Ryan for the first time in 14 seasons and bring Marcus Mariota to be their signal caller. Mariota went a respectable 20-of-33 for 215 passing yards and no turnovers. He also had no touchdowns.

FanDuel Sportsbook has the Los Angeles Rams as 10.5-point favorites, a slight tick up from the opening line of 10. The Rams failed to cover their opening game, but the Falcons losing by one last week was enough for them to cover the 5.5 line. Dating back to last season, the Falcons are covering the spread at a 5-2-1 clip in their last eight games on the road.
The Rams have typically rebounded from losses well, and have covered the spread in five of the last six games following a double-digit home loss. The last time these teams met was back in 2019, but the favorite has covered 10 of the last 12 between the franchises. Laying double-digits is always a tough ask in the NFL, and there may be enormous value in a money line.
The Falcons are +390 on the money line. A $100 wager on the Falcons would net a healthy return of a $390 profit. The total is set to 47.5, with both the over and the under coming in at a -110 price. The Rams have seen the total go under in four of their last five games. The Falcons have also trended towards the under on the road, hitting at a 4-1 mark in their last five on the road.
