MEMPHIS TIGERS vs. GONZAGA BULLDOGS PREDICTIONS

The Tigers rolled past Boise State in a 9-8 game in the first round, winning 64-53 as a 3.5-point favorite as the UNDER connected. Memphis hit 47% (24-of-51) from the field, while managing just 42% (5-of-12) from behind the arc. The Tigers ended up winning despite the fact they turned it over 15 times. Jalen Duren ended up with a double-double, posting 10 points with 11 rebounds and a blocked shot in 30 minutes. The Tigers outrebounded the Broncos 36-30, with five Memphis players going for five or more boards.

The Bulldogs started a little bit slow against Georgia State in the opening round. In fact, the Zags held just a 35-33 at halftime as 22.5-point favorites. However, the Bulldogs pulled away for a 93-72 victory, narrowly missing a cover while the OVER easily connected. Gonzaga has scored 81 or more points in all three games of the postseason, while hitting the mark in six of the past seven outings. The defense has held the opposition to 73 or fewer points in 14 consecutive contests. MEMPHIS TIGERS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 22-10
  • ATS: 16-15-1
  • O/U: 16-15-1

The Tigers have covered three of four games so far during the postseason, while going 11-3 ATS across the past 14 games overall dating back to Jan. 27. Memphis is 4-1 ATS in the past five games overall, while going 6-1 ATS in the past seven games against winning teams. The Tigers are also 16-5 ATS in the past 21 games as an underdog. Memphis is also 9-3 ATS in the past 12 neutral-site games, too.

For totals, the UNDER is 3-1-1 in the past five games overall, while going 4-1 in the past five games against teams with a winning overall record. The UNDER is 8-2-1 in the previous 11 outings as an underdog, too, while going 5-1 in the past six NCAA Tournament games.

GONZAGA BULLDOGS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 27-3
  • ATS: 14-13-3
  • O/U: 13-17

Gonzaga is 0-2-1 ATS in the past three games in the postseason, while going just 1-5-1 ATS in the past seven games overall. The Bulldogs are 0-3-1 ATS in the past four games as a favorite, while going 1-4-1 ATS in the past six games at a neutral site. In addition, the Bulldogs are 1-4-1 in the past six neutral-site games as a favorite.

In terms of the total, the UNDER has hit in seven of the past 10 games overall, while going 4-1 in the past five against teams with a winning overall mark.

These teams have actually met seven times since Feb. 17, 2007, with the underdog cashing in five of the past seven meetings. Gonzaga won the most recent meeting on Jan. 31, 2015, narrowly covering a 17.5-point spread in an 82-64 victory. The UNDER is 4-1 in the past five meetings, although none of the players on the court will have taken part in any of those results. It's still worth noting.

The 1-seed Gonzaga Bulldogs are 0-3-1 ATS in the past four games overall. (AP)

MEMPHIS TIGERS vs. GONZAGA BULLDOGS BETTING CONCLUSION

Memphis looked very good in its opening game against Boise State, while Gonzaga struggled in the first half against Georgia State. But let's not put too much stock into just one game. Overall, the Tigers were a little inconsistent this season, while the Bulldogs are the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament for a reason.

The Tigers are going to be very good, and Duren has a bright future. He is just a freshman, and if he sticks around in Memphis, things are looking up for the Tigers. Right now it's not the time, and the Bulldogs are going to get it done, and get back to the Sweet Sixteen. There is a lot of work to be done after a shaky first half against Georgia State, but that was just a tune-up game. I expect a much better effort from start to finish, although the Tigers have the talent to keep the Bulldogs within single digits here.
