UPDATE 5:15 P.M. ET FRIDAY: BetMGM has Houston -4.5 (-105) in its March Madness odds Sweet 16 market. The Cougars opened -3.5 (-115) late Sunday night and toggled between -3.5/-4.5 at various juice throughout the week.

This afternoon, the number went from Houston -3.5 (-120) to -4.5 flat, then to the current -4.5 (-105). Spread ticket count is just shy of 2/1 and spread money 3/1 on the Cougars.

"Houston -3.5 is a popular bet today. We'll need Duke to cover that number," BetMGM trader Seamus Magee said. "Houston is a really great result for the futures book, so we won't mind at all seeing the Cougars advance."

BetMGM's total opened and remained 134.5 most of the week, save for a few hours at 133.5 early Monday. However, this afternoon, the number again dipped to 133.5.

UPDATE 11:30 A.M. ET FRIDAY: Houston hit DraftKings' Sweet 16 odds board as 4-point chalk late Sunday night and went to -4.5 Monday afternoon. Subsequently, the line spent most of the week at Cougars -4.

This morning, the number briefly returned to -4.5, but it's now -4 again. Spread tickets are almost dead even, while 63% of spread money is on Houston. On the moneyline, it's 61% tickets Houston/61% money Duke.

DraftKings' total opened at 133 and peaked Tuesday/Thursday at 134.5. It remains at that 134.5 peak, with 86% of tickets and dollars on the Over.

UPDATE 6 P.M. ET MONDAY: Houston advanced from -3.5 (-115) to -4.5 (even) late this morning in BetMGM's March Madness odds Sweet 16 market. Spread tickets are running 3/1 and spread money beyond 6/1 on the Cougars.

However, mimicking bettors' actions over the first four days of the NCAA Tournament, underdog Duke is getting plenty of early moneyline attention. Ticket count is almost 4/1 and money almost 2/1 on the +155 underdog Blue Devils.

BetMGM's total went from 134.5 to 133.5 (Over -115) overnight, and it's now at 134.5 (Under -115). Ticket count is 5/1 and money 2/1 on the Over.

UPDATE MIDNIGHT ET SUNDAY: Duke (26-8 SU/20-14 ATS) quickly ended any thoughts No. 12 seed James Madison had of extending its Cinderella story. The Blue Devils led 47-25 at halftime en route to a 93-55 blowout laying 6.5 points.

Houston (32-4 SU/18-16-2 ATS) had a 74-61 lead with 3:44 remaining against No. 9 seed Texas A&M on Sunday. The Cougars ultimately got shoved into overtime before holding on for a 100-95 victory.

Houston failed to cover the 8.5-point spread, but stamped itself onto the March Madness Sweet 16 odds board for the fifth straight time.

After opening Houston -4, Caesars had no movement late tonight on the spread. But the total nudged from 133.5 to 134 for this South Region semifinal.

  • Opening point spread: Tennessee -2
  • Opening moneyline: Tennessee -140/Creighton +118
  • Opening total: Over/Under 142.5 points scored
  • Time: 10:09 p.m. ET Friday (TBS/truTV)

UPDATE 5:30 P.M. ET FRIDAY: Tennessee is 3.5-point chalk in BetMGM's March Madness odds Sweet 16 market. The Vols opened -2.5 flat and spent most of the week at various iterations of -2.5.

Early today, Tennessee climbed to -3.5 (-105), and the Vols got to -3.5 (-115) this afternoon. Tennessee is now -3.5 flat. The Vols are taking 58% of spread bets/54% of spread dollars.

"Tennessee-Creighton has gotten pretty decent two-way action," BetMGM trader Seamus Magee said of spread play, though moneyline tickets/cash are in the 3/1 range on the underdog Vols.

The total opened at 143.5 (Under -115) and toggled to 144.5 a couple times during the week. This afternoon brought a climb to 146.5, and the number is now 145.5 (Over -115). But it's not overwhelming Over action, at 61% of bets/60% of money.

"We'll probably need the Under in this one," Magee said.

UPDATE 11:30 A.M. ET FRIDAY: On Saturday night, Tennessee opened -2.5 in DraftKings' March Madness odds Sweet 16 market. The line toggled between Vols -2.5/-3 Sunday-Wednesday. Tennessee spent all day Thursday at -3, then just in the past half-hour went to -3.5.

It's two-way spread play with a lean toward the Vols, at 55% of bets/57% of dollars. On the moneyline, 56% of bets are on Tennessee, while 65% of money is on underdog Creighton.

The total opened at 148.5 and tumbled to 143.5 by Monday afternoon. It's been at 144 since mid-Tuesday morning at DraftKings, with 77% of bets/63% of money on the Over.

UPDATE 6 P.M. ET MONDAY: As one of two matchups that were set on Saturday, this game has had a little more time to be bet into at BetMGM. Still, Tennessee hasn't moved off the number, opening -2.5 flat and making a couple trips to -2.5 (-115), where the line sits now.

The Vols are attracting 60% of early spread bets/62% of early spread money. On the moneyline, however, +125 underdog Creighton is netting 75% of bets/79% of cash.

UPDATE 1 A.M. ET SUNDAY: Tennessee (26-8 SU/17-16-1 ATS) barely held off hard-charging No. 7 Texas 62-58 Saturday. The Vols fell short of covering as 6.5-point favorites, but helped salvage some respect for the SEC after a rough first two days for the conference.

Creighton (25-9 SU/19-15 ATS) had to work double overtime to get out of the second round and onto March Madness Sweet 16 odds board. The Bluejays and No. 11 seed Oregon went to OT tied at 62, then went to double OT tied at 71.

But Creighton put its foot on the gas from there, winning 86-73 as a 3.5-point favorite. The Jays are 9-2 SU and ATS in their last 11 games.

Within the past half-hour, Caesars Sports opened Tennessee -2. Check back Sunday for updates on this Midwest Region semifinal in the March Madness odds Sweet 16 market.

The Boilermakers are landing 68% of spread tickets/60% of spread money on straight bets. But parlays are the bigger issue tonight at BetMGM.

"Purdue moneyline is in every parlay. Gonzaga outright would be a huge result for the book," BetMGM trader Seamus Magee said. "Lots of money on Over 154.5."

That's where the total has been almost all week, save for a couple of hours Monday morning at 153.5 (Over -115). It's now at 154.5 (Over -115), with 73% of tickets/70% of dollars on the Over.

The total opened at 154.5, dipped to 153.5 (Over -115) briefly this morning, then returned to 154.5. Early ticket count is almost 6/1 and early money 9/1 on the Over.

UPDATE 5:30 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Gonzaga (27-6 SU/17-16 ATS) punched its ticket to the second weekend by pounding Kansas 89-68. The Zags were actually down 44-43 at halftime, but drilled the Jayhawks in the second half, easily cashing as 3.5-point favorites.

Likewise, Purdue (31-4 SU/19-15-1 ATS) blasted No. 8 seed Utah State, hanging a 100-burger in the second round. The Boilermakers 106-67 laying 11.5 points and are on an 8-1 SU run.

Caesars Sports just opened the Gonzaga-Purdue game, with the Boilermakers 5-point favorites. Check back Monday for an update on this Midwest Region semifinal in the March Madness odds Sweet 16 market.

No. 11 N.C. State vs No. 2 Marquette Odds

  • Opening point spread: Marquette -6
  • Opening moneyline: Marquette -190/N.C. State +158
  • Opening total: Over/Under 151 points scored
  • Time: 7:09 p.m. ET Friday (CBS)

UPDATE 5:45 P.M. ET THURSDAY: After spending all week at -6.5, with only juice adjustments, Marquette jumped to -7.5 this afternoon at BetMGM. That said, both teams are getting attention on the spread.

N.C. State is netting 54% of spread bets, while Marquette is drawing 52% of spread dollars. Moneyline tickets are heavy to the Wolfpack, at 86%, but money is closer, at 62% on N.C. State.

"Really great two-way action on the N.C. State-Marquette game. All we can really ask for is Under 150.5. But it's a great book nonetheless, with huge handle," BetMGM trader Seamus Magee said.

The total spent the week toggling between the 150.5 opener and 151.5 at BetMGM. It's currently 150.5 (Over -115), with 76% of bets/79% of cash on the Over.

UPDATE 11:30 A.M. ET FRIDAY: On game day, Marquette is 7-point chalk in DraftKings Sportsbook's Sweet 16 odds market. On Sunday afternoon, the Golden Eagles opened -6.5, and they spent pretty much all week at that number, with slight juice adjustments.

This morning, the number climbed to -7. It's two-way spread play, with 53% of tickets on underdog North Carolina State and 52% of money on Marquette. On the moneyline, the Golden Eagles (-305) are seeing 70% of tickets, but 66% of cash is on the Wolfpack (+245).

DraftKings' total opened at 150.5, bottomed out early Monday at 150 and topped out at 151.5 multiple times throughout the week. It's currently at 150.5, with 67% of tickets/75% of money on the Over.

UPDATE 6 P.M. ET MONDAY: Marquette is pinned to -6.5 on BetMGM's March Madness Sweet 16 odds board. The Golden Eagles are seeing 55% of early spread tickets/61% of early spread dollars.

Cipollini said betting in the state of North Carolina – which just launched legal/regulated markets on March 11 – is one reason that tickets and money are close.

"It's close to two-way action, where I would normally expect more Marquette money, with the Golden Eagles being favored," BetMGM trader Christian Cipollini said.

Plus, early moneyline play is practically all on +230 underdog North Carolina State. The Wolfpack are drawing 90% of tickets/89% of money.

BetMGM also hasn't moved off the 150.5 total, making only a brief juice adjustment to 150.5 (Under -115). It's now back at 150.5 flat, with 70% of tickets on the Over/61% of money on the Under.

UPDATE 5 P.M. ET SUNDAY: North Carolina State's stunning postseason run continued in the Round of 32. The Wolfpack held off fellow upstart and No. 14 seed Oakland 79-73 in overtime, just shy of covering the 6.5-point spread Saturday.

N.C. State (24-14 SU/18-19-1 ATS) is 7-0 SU in the postseason (5-2 ATS). That includes a five-wins-in-five-days run to the ACC Tournament title just to get into the NCAA Tournament.

Meanwhile, Marquette (27-9 SU/21-14-1 ATS) blew a 45-34 halftime lead and found itself in a dogfight with No. 10 seed Colorado. The Golden Eagles got out with an 81-77 victory, failing to cash as 4.5-point favorites today.

Moments after Marquette's win, Caesars installed the No. 2 seed as a 6-point favorite in the March Madness odds Sweet 16 market. The Golden Eagles advanced to -6.5 after a couple hours.

The total opened at 151 and crept to 150.5 for this South Region semifinal.

UPDATE 7:30 P.M. ET THURSDAY: With tipoff about two hours out, North Carolina is laying 4.5 points in BetMGM's March Madness Sweet 16 odds market. Sunday night, the Tar Heels opened -4.5 (-105), and the line toggled between -4.5 and -3.5 (-115)/-3.5 (-120) on Monday.

The line spent the past couple days locked at UNC -4.5, then jumped to -5.5 (even) early this evening. It's since reverted to -4.5 flat, but it's all Carolina on the spread, with tickets and money in the 5/1 range.

"There's a ton of UNC money. We'll need 'Bama to keep this close," BetMGM trader Seamus Magee said.

On the moneyline at BetMGM, tickets are close to even, with a modest lean toward UNC. But moneyline dollars are running 2.5/1-plus on the Tar Heels.

The total opened at 173.5 and bounced up to 174.5 a couple times this week, Monday and today. It's currently 174.5, with 64% of tickets/60% of cash on the Under.

UPDATE 6 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: North Carolina opened -4 and fell back to -3.5 Sunday night in DraftKings' March Madness odds Sweet 16 market. However, the Tar Heels quickly returned to -4, then went to -4.5 Monday afternoon.

Tuesday morning brought a fallback to UNC -4, but the line went to -4.5/-5 today. It's now Tar Heels -4.5, with 82% of early tickets/87% of early cash on the favorite.

DraftKings opened the total at 175 Sunday night and dropped to 173.5 within a few hours. That's where the number remains, with 65% of tickets/60% of money on the Under.

Early bettors definitely like the Tar Heels, as spread tickets and money are in the 9/1 range on UNC.

"UNC-Alabama is all UNC right now," BetMGM trader Christian Cipollini said. "The recent [sports betting] launch in North Carolina probably plays a big role, with new customers who are eager to bet. And the ever-popular Tar Heels are still alive."

The total toggled from 173.5 to 174.5 (Under -115) and back to 173.5, all late Sunday night. Early ticket count is 2/1 on the Under, while early money is 2/1 on the Over.

UPDATE 11 P.M. ET SUNDAY: North Carolina (29-6 SU/20-15-1 ATS) went back-and-forth with No. 8 seed Michigan State for about 30 minutes. But the Tar Heels pulled away in those final 10 minutes, winning 85-69 as 4.5-point favorites Saturday.

Alabama (23-11 SU/18-15-1 ATS) was another second-round Cinderella stopper. The Crimson Tide topped No. 12 seed Grand Canyon 72-61 as 5.5-point favorites Sunday.

The Alabama-North Carolina spread is already on the move tonight. Caesars Sports opened UNC -3, went to -3.5 in short order and advanced to -4 within about an hour.

The total made a one-fell-swoop jump from 176 to 173.5 shortly after opening. Check back Monday for an update on odds and action in this East Region semifinal.

Iowa State is currently -1.5 flat in what's very much two-way spread play at BetMGM's Vegas shops.

"There's literally one more ticket on Iowa State. Money is also really close, a little bit more on Iowa State," BetMGM Nevada's Scott Shelton said.

However, the moneyline is a different story.

"They're definitely playing Illinois moneyline. It's 3/1 tickets and 3.5/1 money," Shelton said.

This time around, UConn opened as 10-point chalk tonight in Caesars Sports. There's been no early movement. Check back Monday for an odds and action update on this East Region semifinal showdown.
