The Jayhawks get the oddsmakers’ edge in this conference tilt as -2-point road favorites. The betting line for the total opened at 133.5 points.

Kansas started the season with a 12-point loss to Gonzaga as a four-point underdog. It has won its next six games SU with an overall 2-4 record ATS in games with posted betting lines. The total has stayed UNDER in the last four games.

The Jayhawks have won 18 of their last 20 games against Texas Tech SU while posting a 13-7 record ATS. The total has gone OVER in seven of the last eight meetings. Yet, it has stayed UNDER in Kansas’s last 10 road games.

Betting Analysis – Kansas Jayhawks

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 6-1
  • ATS: 2-4
  • SU - Home: 4-0

Two of the Jayhawks’ biggest wins this season came against Kentucky by three points and Creighton by a point. They failed to cover in both games.

This roster runs four deep with players averaging at least 11 points per game. Forward Jalen Wilson has led the way with 15.3 points while also leading the team in rebounds per game with 8.7. Next on the list is guard Ochai Agbaji with 14.1 PPG.

Kansas has averaged 81.6 points through its first seven gamed while shooting 44.4% from the field. It has a respectable 39.9 shooting percentage from three-point range led by Agbaji’s 45.9% effort.

At the other end of the court, the Jayhawks are holding opponents to 66.6 PPG. This average is a bit inflated after Gonzaga posted 102 points in the season opener. Total rebounds add up to 43.7 with 32.9 boards on defense.

Guard Mac McClung is the Red Raiders’ leading scorer with 14.1 PPG while shooting 39.7% from the field. He is currently listed as questionable for Thursday with a foot injury.

Guard Kyle Edwards is adding 11.3 points with a team-high five assists. This is part of a team scoring average of 75.3 PPG. Texas Tech has a 44.6 field-goal percentage that drops to 35.5 % from three-point range.

Total rebounds average 37.9 a game. Defensively, the Red Raiders have allowed as average of 51.6 points against weaker competition. They gave up 64 points in the loss to Houston.

Kansas-Texas Tech Predictions

Texas Tech should be able to keep things close late into the second half but it is hard to see Kansas failing to cover the two points. Having their top scorer listed as questionable doesn't help the Red Raiders’ cause.

The best play on the total line could be on the UNDER. Kansas has a tendency to rely more heavily on defense when playing on the road. Texas Tech may have to rely on its defense even more this Thursday night.

  • Score Prediction: Kansas 68 Texas Tech 63
  • Best Bets: Kansas -2
  • Best Bets: UNDER 133.5
