Utah vs. BYU Prediction

Utah's defense is the difference-maker in this matchup. They rank 18th in defensive success rate, whereas BYU ranks 56th.

Devon Dampier's ceiling is also much higher than Bear Bachmeier’s. Dampier brings a 6.76% big-time throw rate compared to Bear's 3.27%. Bear also has a worse turnover-worthy play rate than Dampier.

BYU's rush defense has been suspect at times, ranking 60th in EPA/rush allowed. Utah's rush offense is one of the best in the nation, coming in at 19th in EPA/rush.

You can make the argument that Utah's schedule has been easier, but Utah even clears BYU in net adjusted EPA/play, which is a stat that takes into account a team's schedule.

It should be all Utah in this Big 12 showdown.
