2020 Auburn Tigers Football Betting Predictions

Auburn Tigers Betting Odds & Forecast

2020 Auburn Win Total Odds

Auburn 2020 wins: Over 9 (+115) or Under 9 (-143)

Yet, oddsmakers appear to feel like the nine wins Auburn had in 2019 will be an already tall ceiling to reach in 2020, as the season win totals for the Tigers this year do have them shaded towards being a 8-4 straight-up (SU) type of team.

2020 Auburn Tigers Schedule

  • Week 1 - Sept. 5 vs. Alcorn State
  • Week 2 - Sept. 12 vs. North Carolina (Atlanta, Georgia)
  • Week 3 - Sept. 19 at Ole Miss
  • Week 4 - Sept. 26 vs. Southern Miss
  • Week 5 - Oct. 3 vs. Kentucky
  • Week 6 - Oct. 10 at Georgia
  • Week 7 - Oct. 17 vs. Texas A&M
  • Week 9 -Oct. 31 at Mississippi State
  • Week 10 - Nov. 7 vs. Arkansas
  • Week 11 - Nov. 14 vs. UMass
  • Week 12 - Nov. 21 vs. LSU
  • Week 13 - Nov. 28 at Alabama

That may not be giving the Tigers enough credit overall, as there is nothing to egregious in their overall schedule other then ending the year with LSU and Alabama in consecutive weeks, with only the former being a home game for Auburn. A trip to Georgia won't be easy, but if Nix continues his upward trajectory, as does the rest of the team, double digit victories are definitely possible for the Tigers in 2020.

QB Bo Nix showed some flashes of brilliance for Auburn last season and he'll need to improve on that effort in the 2020 college football season. (AP)

2020 Auburn Game of the Year Odds

  • Week 2 - North Carolina vs. Auburn (-5.5)
  • Week 3 - Auburn (-9.5) at Ole Miss
  • Week 5 - Kentucky at Auburn (-17.5)
  • Week 6 - Auburn (+7.5) at Georgia
  • Week 12 - LSU at Auburn (PK)
  • Week 13 - Auburn (+13.5) at Alabama

When you peek at the only two games Auburn currently has listed on the Games of the Year board, you'll see that the slight disrespect seems to continue with the 2020 Tigers. They are currently +7.5 road underdogs for that Georgia game, and are catching basically double that as +13.5 road dogs vs Alabama. Considering QB Nix is ranked 7th in odds for the Heisman this year, the big picture doesn't appear to completely add up.

Either Nix is highly overpriced in Heisman odds and will come nowhere near contention if these point spreads are highly accurate, or those individual game lines present opportunity with quite a few points on a team with a QB who will cement himself in the Heisman discussion all year long. All depends on what side of that equation you believe the 2020 Auburn Tigers land.

Auburn Odds to win SEC West in 2020

Yes (+500)

Auburn trails Alabama (-200), LSU (+400), and Texas A&M (+400) in this market, and they do face two of those three division rivals at home this year. LSU really has nowhere to go but take some sort of step back after last year, and QB transitional years in Alabama tend to come with at least a few minor hiccups. Those that are higher on Auburn's 2020 prospects then most should seriously take a deeper look at this line.

Auburn Odds to win SEC Championship

Yes (+1400)

Another line worth at least a deep dive from a research perspective for Auburn believers this year, as SEC West teams tend to be the ones laying chalk in SEC title games and chances are that's going to be no different again in 2020.

Should the Tigers survive the gauntlet that is SEC West play and be involved in this game, holding a +1400 ticket on Auburn's futures odds would be a nice position to be in. All depends on how realistic you believe Auburn getting to this game in the first place feels.

Auburn Odds to Make 2020-21 College Football Playoff

Yes (+800) or No (-1430)

The SEC is known for being the conference that sends two programs to the playoffs if that opportunity is a possibility, which is why these odds aren't nearly as good as the price on winning the conference for Auburn. That makes this prop bet a little tough to get behind anything other then the 'no' because taking a much shorter price on the off-chance Auburn sneaks in as a #4 seed doesn't present any value at all. Better off to go with their price on winning the SEC because that's the most likely point of entry for the 2020 Auburn Tigers.

Auburn Odds to Win 2020-21 College Football Playoff

Yes (+5000)

In fact, if you are a bettor that has the utmost faith in Auburn this year as you view them as potentially running the table or being playoff bound with just a single loss, taking them to win it all is where the money should be going.

An Auburn entry into the CFB Playoff likely has them as SEC champs and probably a top-two seed because of it. To have them at +5000 to win a couple more games is well worth the risk in that scenario, especially since they are likely to be at least favored for the semi-final game. Sometimes weighing out all the futures for a particular team gives a bettor a much clearly perspective on which lines make more sense to get behind. For Auburn backers, taking them to win it all rather then just make the playoffs is one of those scenarios.

Auburn Odds for Players to win the 2020 Heisman Trophy

The Tigers currently have two players listed in the Heisman Trophy Odds betting market.

(Position, SEC Player, School, Odds)
  • QB Bo Nix, Auburn 16/1
  • WR Seth Williams, Auburn 66/1

Auburn Tigers – Postseason Forecast

Sadly, without a Heisman-type campaign for QB Bo Nix, a nine-win season likely ends up as a ceiling the Auburn Tigers fail to reach in 2020. That being said, a quality Bowl game is likely in their future, even if it's not a playoff game, as Nix is still a young starter at this level and is presumably growing into a position where 2021 and/or 2022 are the seasons they end up making the most noise.

That being said, a Heisman-type season from Nix and potentially we get a situation where the sky is the limit for Auburn in 2020.

Auburn Tigers Season Prediction

As a program, Auburn tends to have one great win and one great loss every year. That's held them back from achieving full potential at times and that could end up being the case in 2020. However, there are quite a few future bets that do hold some lofty potential on the Tigers this season if Nix and company can exceed the hype and expectations.

Taking 'over' 9 wins at +115 is worth an investment, as are winning the SEC West (+500), and SEC Conference (+1400) respectively. Not having the Iron Bowl at home this year does make things tougher for Auburn in that respect, and going the final three weeks of the year playing LSU, Alabama, and the SEC East winner if Auburn makes the conference title game is a stretch where they might run out of gas.

But I'm a believer in Nix as an athlete and QB, and Auburn is never all that short in the overall talent department as it is. A 10-2 season with or without an appearance in the SEC title game is where I see the Tigers finishing up in 2020.

Auburn Tigers 2019 Betting Recap

Overall, 2019 was a quality regular season for the Auburn Tigers football team, as it began with a win over then-ranked #11 Oregon, and finished with a 48-45 win in the Iron Bowl against Alabama. In-between, there were three tight losses to Florida, LSU, and Georgia – by a combined 21 total points – and those defeats do give 2019 a bit of a “what if” feel for the Tigers as well.

Jan 1 Minnesota Golden Gophers   -7 53.5 Lost 24 - 31   Loss / Over

The Tigers seemingly wanted to accomplish all they could during the regular season, cause they basically no-showed the Bowl game in a 31-24 loss to Minnesota. But either way, the entire season was a great one for freshman QB Bo Nix to be at the center of all of it, and how he continues to grow into that position in Year 2 is what Auburn fans are excited about for 2020.
