2022 Bowling Green Falcons Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

2022 BOWLING GREEN FALCONS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

It was a wild and confusing ride for Bowling Green in 2021. The Falcons scored victories at Minnesota and at Buffalo, while spoiling the season of Ohio in the regular-season finale. But the Falcons also lost to a bad Akron side, and suffered four other losses by 21 or more points. Talk about Jekyll and Hyde...

Bowling Green did show some signs of life, however, going 1-1 SU/2-0 ATS in two games against Power 5 conferences, and this team could be ready to take another step forward, perhaps even toward bowl eligibility.

QB Matt McDonald is back to run the offense, and he and the offensive unit need to show vast improvement in 2022. This team managed just 318.3 total yards per game to rank 117th in the nation, and the Falcons couldn't run the ball, either. They were 119th overall with just 103.5 yards per game on the ground. WRs Tyrone Broden (team-high 596 receiving yards) and Austin Osborne (64-546-2) gives McDonald some bona fide weapons.

Leading rusher RB Terion Stewart (70-412-5) is back, and he averaged 5.9 yards per tote. He will run behind an O-line which returns four starters, but was mediocre at best and rather undersized.

Defensively, the Falcons didn't allow very many yards through the air, ranking 11th in the country with 186.2 yards per game. But, that's also because teams gouged them for 187.9 yards per game on the ground, 105th overall. This BGSU team still allowed 30.7 PPG, which is terrible considering how good they were against the pass.

The team lost a couple of productive defensive backs, but return CB Davon Ferguson who might be one of the more underrated corners in the MAC. LB Darren Anders is a stud in the linebacking corps, too, and Brock Horne is a tackling machine, too.

A trip to UCLA to open does BGSU no favors, and a trip to Mississippi State will pad the coffers of the athletic budget, but won't do much for the morale of the team after a big defeat. Even so, this is a team which has the potential and experience to easily challenge for a bowl game this season, and the OVER in wins should be a slam-dunk play. It's now or never for Scot Loeffler's coaching staff, and they have plenty of pieces in place to be much better.

BOWLING GREEN FALCONS ODDS TO WIN MAC CHAMPIONSHIP

+10000

Let's pump the brakes a bit. The Falcons will be better, and Bowling Green could potentially return to a bowl for the first time since Dino Babers took this program to the GoDaddy Bowl in 2015. That was the last winning season for the Falcons, too. But don't expect a turnaround overnight, and a MAC Championship Game appearance would be shocking.

BOWLING GREEN FALCONS ODDS TO WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

+300000

Bowling Green once won the NCAA national championship in men's hockey in 1984, and the football team was voted the 1959 national small college champions. And let's not forget the 2018 USA Rugby D1-AA national champs, either. Other than that, the Falcons don't win titles, and they're certainly not going to do it in football in this day and age of big-time, big-money athletics.
