2022 BUFFALO BULLS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

It was a disappointing season in western New York. The Bulls of UB were 4-4 in late October, but ended up losing four consecutive games to close out the season, as the defense let the team down. Two of the losses came at home, and one was in overtime. And three of the team's eight losses were one-score games, so with a break or two here or there, this team wasn't as bad as the record indicates.

However, head coach Maurice Linguist begins his second season looking for a replacement in the pass game. Dependable QB Kyle Vantrease has moved on, and it appears QB Matt Myers will be tasked with taking the torch and running, err, passing, with it. The good news is WRs Quian Williams (64-835-2) and Jamari Gassett (20-270-1) are back to ease Myers' transition to starter.

Unfortunately for the Bulls, RB Dylan McDuffie (206-1,049-11) transferred out to Georgia Tech, leaving a crater-like hole in the backfield. RB Ron Cook Jr. will be tasked with being the workhorse, but he is a diminutive back, and it remains to be seen if he can handle the punishment of a full workload.

UB returns six starters on defense, and the front seven is not terrible. In fact, NT Daymond Williams is a disruptive force in the middle, and LB James Patterson is a stud in the linebacker corps. Buffalo banked on the transfer portal to shore up some deficiencies in the back end. We'll see how that plays out.

Trips to Maryland and Coastal Carolina in the first three games of the season is rather rough, but Buffalo misses West Division favorite Northern Illinois and Western Michigan in the crossover games, so that's good news. The toughest conference games are at home, sans for a trip to Ohio late in the season. This is a team which could win four games again, or it could top out at six. With all of the new personnel, especially under center, the lean to the UNDER here.

BUFFALO BULLS ODDS TO WIN MAC CHAMPIONSHIP

+1400

Buffalo went to the MAC Championship Game in 2018 and 2020, but it came up short both times. It has been to Ford Field for the title game just three times, and won it only once, back in 2008. This isn't a championship-caliber team this season, and it's rather short odds for a team which could easily finish under .500 again.

BUFFALO BULLS ODDS TO WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

+200000

C'mon. We all know Buffalo doesn't win championships. Jim Kelly lost four Super Bowls in a row for the Bills, Brett Hull dashed the hopes of the Buffalo Sabres in the Stanley Cup Final, etc. This isn't a championship town, and the Bulls will continue the tradition of keeping the town trophy case bare.
