2022 COASTAL CAROLINA CHANTICLEERS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

Coastal Carolina finished last season with a record of 11-2 SU and are 22-3 SU over their last two seasons. The Chanticleers will have just six players returning from last season, but one of those players happens to be the two-time reigning Sun Belt Conference player of the year Grayson McCall (QB). With McCall in command of the offense, I think over eight wins (-140) is a borderline lock, but there is another bet that offers a bit more juice for a season long bet.  

While it may not be as safe of a bet as the over eight wins, there is a ton of value in backing Coastal Carolina to win the Sun Belt Championship (+650). The Chanticleers lost quite a few players after last season, but with McCall returning and the big play capability of running backs Braydon Bennett and Reese White the offense should be just fine. It is the defense that could be a potential liability. If they can smoothly fill in the lost pieces on defense it will give that +650 a ton of value. If not, the road to the conference championship will be a bit more challenging.  

It is not ideal for a program to have just six players returning, but head coach Jeremy Chadwell and his staff remain intact. This is key for Coastal Carolina as they have had back-to-back 11-win seasons, a conference championship, and a bowl win over their last two season. There are a few legit contenders to win the Sun Belt Championship, so I think over eight wins is the best bet here, but if you are looking for a bit more juice back the Chanticleers to win the Sun Belt Championship at +650.

This for me is Coastal Carolina’s best bang for your buck bet. With 23 wins and a conference championship over their last two seasons, the Chanticleers are a legit contender to win the Sun Belt. This team has potential to lose just a game or two this season, but only time will tell if they can fill the shoes of players lost after last season. Their out of conference schedule is not too difficult with Virginia and Army as their toughest opponents. Coastal Carolina’s most challenging games will come against conference rivals Appalachian State and Georgia State. This is not a lock but defiantly has potential to be a solid bet with tremendous value.

In 2020 the Chanticleers ranked as high as 12th in the college football playoff rankings, a Sun Belt record. I am honestly not sure how much higher they can go with their strength of schedule. If the SEC, Big 10, and Big 12 all ended up with .500 records while Coastal Carolina goes undefeated then maybe, just maybe? Grayson McCall (QB) +10000

Redshirt junior Grayson McCall is quite the long shot to win the Heisman, but there is a line which means there is a way. McCall played in all 11 games last season while completing 72.7% of his passes, throwing for 2867 yards, and 27 touchdowns. This is a guy who plays with a ton of confidence but will need to find new targets this season after losing his three main receivers in Isiah Likely (TE), Jaivon Heiligh (WR), and Kameron Brown (WR). Georgia State transfer Sam Pinckney (WR) could help fill that role, but McCall will need to find at least one other play maker to help him out. It will be no easy task, but if McCall can put up some impressive numbers he could find himself in contention towards the end of the season.
