Colorado State Rams Betting Odds & Forecast
2020 Colorado State Win Total Odds
Colorado State 2020 wins: Over 6 (-120) or Under 6 (+100)
Bringing in a known name as the new coach and keeping the core around has expectations as quite a jump from last year's efforts. In the latest Win Total Odds, going 'over' six wins means you've got to believe the Rams are going to a bowl game this year. They squeaked out seven wins in every season from 2015-17, and they are able to potentially make some noise in the Mountain West, but laying juice to get an improvement of 3+ wins is a tough perspective to fundamentally get behind.
2020 Colorado State Rams Schedule
With what Colorado State has back in the fold for 2020 it can definitely happen, but road games @ San Diego State, Air Force, and Boise State will be tough, and there will be a few other slip ups in there as well for a team trying to find it's own footing. Six wins and a bowl game has to be the ultimate achievable goal for Colorado State in 2020 though.
Despite coming off back-to-back losing seasons, the oddsmakers believe the Colorado State Rams will improve in the 2020 football season. (AP)
Colorado State Odds to win Mountain West Championship
When a season that needs a three-win jump just to cash an 'over' ticket on a season win total number that just makes a program bowl eligible, asking them to go out and win the conference does feel like a bit much. There aren't too many schools in the Mountain West with worse odds then the Rams – only UNLV (+8000) and New Mexico (+10000) do – with San Jose State tied at the same +5000 price. It's priced that way for a reason.
Colorado State Odds to Win 2020-21 College Football Playoff
Competing for a national title is just so far out of the realm of possibilities for Colorado State that I wouldn't be touching on it if the articles for all teams weren't formatted in a similar fashion. No need to even consider this Future Odds bet.
Colorado State Rams – Postseason Forecast
It's all about just getting to the postseason for Colorado State this year, and it will be a grind for them to accomplish that goal. Steal at least one of those tough road games late in the year and take care of things as best you can at home will go a long way for Colorado State getting to that six-win mark. It's all about getting there, or if not, showing steps that will get this Rams program there next year. Where a handicapper stands on that predicament is why we all do the research.
Colorado State Rams Season Prediction
Fundamentally, going 'over' a season win total that needs 3+ wins improvement on the previous year is something that I have a really tough time doing. Yet, it's probably the only future I'd strongly consider for the Rams this season – going 'over' that number – as they do have a lot of good things in place for a year that shows significant improvement.
The first is adding a new HC, as there tends to always be at least an early season spark with teams in that position that are talented enough to compete. The coach's message isn't stale yet, their is excitement for what a new system/season can bring, and guys on the team are hoping new leadership can help potentially change the course of their career.
The other thing that the Rams have going for them in that regard is that a lot of the core starters on both sides of the ball are back on the field. There is still that level of trust between those guys out there, and if they all confidently buy in to Addazio's ways, 2020 could be a somewhat special year for the Rams.
It's still a big ask to expect a team to make a three-win jump, but they are more common in non-Power-5 conferences like the Mountain West where extremely dominant teams just rarely exist. It will not be a big bet by any means, as from a betting fundamentals standpoint that three-win improvement is large, but Colorado State should find themselves in bowling shoes somewhere come the holidays.
Colorado State Rams 2019 Betting Recap
2019 was an improvement on 2018 for the Rams, but going to 4-8 SU from 3-9 SU still isn't something to be overly proud about. It was a rough year from start to finish for the Rams, and even with the improvement in wins from the year prior, HC Mike Bobo was relieved of his duties at season's end.
The good news for 2020 is that most of Colorado State's offense returns and they've got plenty of skill in the passing game to make things interesting. New HC Steve Addazio will hopefully provide a stable foundation for this program to build upon, and 2020 is Year 1 in that plan.
