2022 GEORGIA STATE PANTHERS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

The Panthers started last season 1-4 SU, losing by a combined score of 147-43 but managed to turn their season around after finishing 7-1 SU including a 51-20 bowl win over Ball State. That makes it the third straight winning season and third straight bowl game appearance for Georgia State. Head coach Shawn Elliot will be entering his sixth year as head coach for the Panthers and will have plenty of veterans and playmakers to work with.

Running backs Tucker Gregg and Jamyest Williams will be returning from last season. This is huge for a Panthers team that averaged 225.5 rushing yards per game. Senior QB Darren Grainger (19 TD, 4 INT) will also return and adds to the rushing attack with 646 yards last season. Leading the team with seven touchdown catches last season, tight end Aubrey Payne will be Grainger’s main target but will have plenty of other solid options to go to.

With how much talent Georgia State has returning, one might think backing the win total of over seven and a half is a no brainer. However, the Panthers have a difficult schedule ahead of them including opening the season against South Carolina week one and North Carolina week two. Throughout the year, Georgia State will also play Coastal Carolina, Army, Appalachian State, and Marshall. While these are not guaranteed losses, they are very losable games. There just is not much room for error in their other six games which is concerning. Backing the under seven-and-a-half-win total is the best play for the Panthers as I think a 7-5 season lies ahead for Georgia State.

While backing the under seven and a half wins is my best play for the Panthers, this may also be a bet to lay a few dollars on. If Georgia State can manage to get through their schedule with just one or two losses, they could very well find themselves in position to win the Sun Belt Championship. Defiantly not the strongest bet on the board with how tough their schedule is, but if you think the Panthers can continue the momentum from last season then this is not a bad play.

If Georgia State can go undefeated this season, they more than likely will not find themselves in contention for a National Championship, but a top 25 finish would be a good look for the program.
