Indiana Hoosiers Betting Odds & Forecast
2020 Indiana Win Total Odds
Indiana 2020 wins: Over 7 (-141) or Under 7 (+116)
Those eight wins the Hoosiers got last year all came in the regular season – they lost in the Gator Bowl – so it appears oddsmakers are expecting a duplicate performance from Indiana in 2020. That is some steep juice on the 'over' price here, which is really quite surprising since it took 26 years between eight-win campaigns for this program. Now they are expected to do it in consecutive years?
2020 Indiana Hoosiers Schedule
Add on top of that the fact that they play in the much better East division in the Big 10, which means the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and Michigan State are adversaries each and every year. 2020 has Indiana facing Michigan State, Penn State, and at Ohio State in three straight weeks in late-October through early November and those right there are going to be tough spots.
Indiana then turns around and ends the year with a trip to Michigan and hosting a suspected improving Purdue team, and all that comes after visiting Wisconsin in the season opener. So just where are these 7-8 wins coming from?

2020 Indiana Game of the Year Odds
The Hoosiers are currently listed as +14.5 road underdogs for that season opening trip to Wisconsin and that's the Game of the Year Odds line currently posted for Indiana this year. That being said, Wisconsin is catching +3.5 points @ Michigan, and Michigan is catching +11.5 points @ Ohio State, it's safe to assume that Michigan, Ohio State, and even Penn State are all likely to be significant chalk against the Hoosiers.
If those games play out in that fashion, that's four losses already penciled in for this 2020 Hoosiers squad, meaning those that do lay the juicy price on the 'over' 7 in their win total prop would have to see Indiana run the table the rest of the way. Not exactly the best situation to be in.
Indiana Odds to win Big 10 Championship
Winning the conference championship always starts out as the dream for the Indiana program and history tells us it stays as a dream. The Hoosiers haven't won this conference since 1967, and they just can't stack up with the Ohio State's and Michigan's of the world in the Big 10 East.
Every bettor should have little interest in this future, and if the Hoosiers decide that 2020 will be the year they knock off all the Goliaths in this conference, then good on them and I'll be the first to congratulate them. Still wouldn't convince me to invest in this future price though.
Indiana Odds to Win 2020-21 College Football Playoff
Again, Indiana would need to suffer no more then one defeat in the Big 10 season, win the conference championship, and then go on and take down the Alabama's, Clemson's of the world. That would be an all-time historic run for any program, let alone one like the Hoosiers who had 26 years between eight-win seasons. That's just not a feasible outcome to even consider this future.
Indiana Hoosiers – Postseason Forecast
A win total of 7 with the type of chalk it's got on the 'over' suggests Tom Allen's Indiana Hoosiers team will be Bowl bound again in 2020, and that would be considered a successful season for the Hoosiers. Indiana has only had back-to-back Bowl appearances once (2015-16) since the start of the 1992 season, and both those years saw them get in with a 6-6 straight-up (SU) record.
In fact, winning a Bowl game is probably the most realistic lofty goal the Hoosiers can set for themselves in 2020, as they haven't done that since the 1991 Copper Bowl. They've got to get there first though, a feat they likely accomplish thanks to six or seven wins on the year.
Indiana Hoosiers Season Prediction
When you know that Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State – all traditional powerhouses in football – are on your schedule each and every year, it's hard to really get expectations too overblown. But that's the predicament Indiana football finds itself in each year and it's a big reason why it took so long for them to have eight-win campaigns.
Hard not to think this traditional doormat of a football program will continue to show signs of improvement on the football field within a drive, quarter, or half, but the end results just won't end up being there. Winning a Bowl game would be a high point for them without question, but I'm not even sure the Hoosiers manage to get to one. They've got four likely losses already with Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin, and just two more puts them at another 6-6 campaign.
And even though the bulk of these games are home contests for the Hoosiers, beating the likes of Maryland, Michigan State, Illinois, and Purdue are no easy feats, and if they fall in just one, there is no way any 'overs' on their season win total can get anything better then a push. Nobody likes to less then positive outcomes, but Indiana's success from 2019 catches up with them in the form of lofty expectations in 2020.
Take this team 'under' 7 wins at the plus money odds.
Indiana 2019 Betting Recap
The 2019 season was one Indiana Hoosiers football fans won't forget for awhile as it was their best season of the century with a 8-5 SU record, and marked the first time Indiana got to eight wins since 1993. All those years in-between are the mark of futility, but HC Tom Allen has really put his stamp on this program in his three years year, and Year Three was by far the best.
Now it becomes a question of whether or not the Hoosiers can sustain that upward momentum in 2020, or was 2019 really just a one-off season of success.
