2022 Ohio Bobcats Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

2022 OHIO BOBCATS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

It was a down season for the Ohio Bobcats in 2021, as this team won just three games with nine losses. While an early-season loss to FCS Duquesne was inexcusable, three of the team's five conference losses were one-score games, including a 34-27 close shave against East Division champ Ken State. With a couple of breaks here or there, a 3-9 season could easily have been 6-6 or even 7-5.

Unfortunately for the Bobcats offense, RB De'Montre Tuggle the team's leading rusher and north star, has moved on. RB O'Shaan Allison takes over, and could be the next great back in (the other) Athens.

QB Kurtis Rourke completed 65.5% of his pass attempts for 1,801 yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions, and he rumbled for 327 yards and three scores while averaging 4.4 yards per tote. Unfortunately for Rourke, WR Isiah Cox transferred to Alabama A&M to be closer to home, while leading WR Cameron Odom has graduated. The cupboard isn't completely bare, however, as WR Tyler Walton (32-380-2) is back, and WR August Pitre comes in as a transfer from Rice to help out.

The defense struggled in 2022, allowing 432.8 total yards per game to rank 105th in the nation, while yielding 193.6 rushing yards per game and 30.3 PPG. Not good. It isn't all terrible, however, as the linebackers are among the best in the MAC, led by Bryce Houston who recorded a team-high 104 stops. The defensive backs are green, and safety is not very experienced or deep. Teams will likely look to pass early and often on the Bobcats.

The opening game could go either way against FAU, but then it gets extremely rough with roadies at Penn State and Iowa State. The Bobcats have a layup against FCS Fordham, although Ohio lost to Duquesne last season, so nothing is a certainty right now.

The MAC season opens at Kent State, one of the favorites in the East Division, and the conference slate also features a trip to Miami-Ohio, another favorite in the East. Crossover games against Northern Illinois and Western Michigan will be rough, too. There are a lot of question marks for Ohio, and the lean to the UNDER.

Best Bet: Ohio UNDER 5.5 Wins (-110)

The Bobcats are going to struggle to get to five wins, and bowl eligibility and six victories would be rather stunning based on the difficult schedule. Save your money.

The Bobcats aren't Ohio State. They're not even Cincinnati. Heck, they're not even Kent State or Miami-Ohio. In the pecking order in the state of Ohio, the Bobcats are ranked sixth tops. Not good.
