2022 Texas State Bobcats Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

2022 TEXAS STATE BOBCATS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

Texas State will look for their first winning season since 2014 and possibly make it to their first Bowl game in school history if all goes well for the Bobcats. Head Coach Jake Spavital has made progress towards that goal after winning four games last season, just one win less than his first two season combined. With plenty of talent returning as well as a generous schedule, the Bobcats are in a solid position to cover their win total of five games this season.

The Bobcats have yet to decide on a starting quarterback after losing Brady McBride to Appalachian State via the transfer portal. Battling for the position will be Arkansas State transfer Layne Hatcher, Syracuse transfer Dillion Markiewicz, and NC State transfer Ty Evans. Most of Texas State’s wideouts will be returning including leading receiver Javen Banks (553 YDS, 5 TDs). Texas State averaged 149 rushing yards per game last season and leading rusher Calvin Hill (714 YDS, 3 TD) will also return for the 2022 season. Their defense will need improvement as they were one of the worst in the Sun Belt at creating sacks and had just three interceptions on the season.

Looking at their schedule, Texas State is set up nicely to go over their win total of 5 (-140). Their first four games of the season include Nevada, FIU, Baylor, and Houston Baptist. They should win the games against FIU and Houston. Baylor is more than likely a loss, but Nevada is winnable. They will also play Appalachian State and Louisiana later in the season, but both of those games are at home. Despite the advantage in their schedule, there is too little room for error in the 50/50 games to expect this team to cover the win total. If the Bobcats had seen any past success, I would expect them to cover but given the fact they have not had a winning season since 2014, the best play is to back the under five wins (+120).

TEXAS STATE BOBCATS ODDS TO WIN SUN BELT CHAMPIONSHIP

+7500

I do not expect Texas State to win the Sun Belt Championship, but in terms of value this is not the worst play. If the Bobcats do make considerable progress in the offseason, their schedule gives them an opportunity to shine. Baylor is the closest thing to a guaranteed loss on the season, but again, given this teams history I would not expect a whole lot from them. A small wager here is not a bad idea with this kind of juice, but there are plenty of other teams poised to win the Sun Belt.

TEXAS STATE BOBCATS ODDS TO WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

+300000

I am honestly surprised there is a line for Texas State to win the National Championship. Even with an undefeated record, an unimaginable number of things would need to happen to other teams for them to make it to the big game. Find another way to spend your money as this is not a good bet to back.
