2022 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

2022 WESTERN KENTUCKY HILLTOPPERS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

The Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky ended up losing five games last season, but still went 7-1 inside the conference to end up in the Conference USA title game against UTSA. The Hilltoppers ended up tied for first in the conference with nine covers last season, and WKU tied with Louisiana Tech and Rice in the league with nine OVER results.

WKU will have to replace a big piece of last season's success, as QB Bailey Zappe is off to the NFL. QB Jarret Doege transfers in from West Virginia to try and keep up the aerial production. Offensive coordinator Zack Kittley also moved to Texas Tech, so Ben Arbuckle and Josh Crawford were promoted to co-OC jobs.

The Hilltoppers not only have to replace Zappe, but WR Jerreth Sterns is in the NFL, and WR Mitchell Tinsley transferred out to Penn State. The Hilltoppers turn to a couple of incoming transfers WRs Daewood Davis and Michael Mathison, joining top returnee WR Malachi Corley (71-690-7) to try and build nice rapport with Doege.

The defense have to replace two top stars like top tackler LB Antwon Kincade and DE DeAngelo Malone. DT Darius Shipp is also a stud, and DE Juwuan Jones is capable on one of the ends.

The schedule is set up for plenty of success for the Hilltoppers. The opener will be a layup for all of the new parts to get acclimated and comfortable with each other. A trip to Hawaii will be difficult, due to the travel, not the experience, and a trip to Indiana can go either way. It's very possible that this team could be 4-1 heading into the UTSA game on Oct. 8, a big test. The 'Toppers end up missing Southern Miss and UTEP, which is a bit unfortunate, as both games are winnable. Instead, WKU gets both of the co-favorites. Still, WKU has the talent in the pass game to easily pile up the points, and pile up the wins.

WESTERN KENTUCKY HILLTOPPERS ODDS TO WIN C-USA CHAMPIONSHIP

+350

Western Kentucky has the chance to do big things in the Conference USA this season, and it might be a good bet playing the victim card. The Hilltoppers are a little sad most of the other members have bolted for greener pastures, mostly in the AAC, leaving WKU behind. I think UTSA and UAB are better picks and value plays. A small-unit play on Western Kentucky isn't a terrible bet, though.

WESTERN KENTUCKY HILLTOPPERS ODDS TO WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

WKU had one of the most prolific offenses in school history in 2021 - and ended up 8-5. They're not going to win the national title in 2022, or, really, anytime soon.
