CHICAGO BEARS vs. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS BETTING PREDICTION

The Bears have one of the most dysfunctional offenses in recent memory, as Chicago averaged 15.5 PPG on 294 YPG across a 2-4 skid to open the season, with Justin Fields attempting just 19.2 passes per game across those six contests. However, the Bears’ relatively pedestrian record might be a bit misleading, as Chicago’s only wins came in a rainy slip-and-slide game against San Francisco in Week 1 (W, 19-10), and a seesaw thriller against Houston in Week 3 (W, 23-20).

The Patriots, on the other hand, have been on quite the rollercoaster to start the year, as New England’s offense averaged just 16.7 PPG across a 1-2 skid with Mac Jones under center to open the season. However, Jones suffered an ankle injury in Week 3, and New England’s offense has dominated since, as the Patriots racked up 30.3 PPG across a 2-1 stretch with backup QB Bailey Zappe leading the charge in Weeks 4 through 6, with their only loss during that span coming in overtime at Lambeau Field (L, 27-24 OT).

I’ll take the over here, as I’m not exactly expecting fireworks between these two offenses, however, this is an incredibly low total, and I still think we’ll see a decent amount of scoring between a Bears squad that’s scored 22+ PTS in two of their last four games, and a Patriots squad that’s scored 24+ PTS in four straight contests (29.3 PPG).

Score Prediction: Patriots 27, Bears 17
Best Bet: Over 39.5 (-110)

CHICAGO BEARS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Bears finished third in the NFC North with a record of 6-11 last year, as Chicago stormed out to a solid 3-2 start to the season, however, their success fizzled out quickly, as they strung together a frustrating 3-9 skid the rest of the way, highlighted by their offense ranking 27th in scoring and 24th in yardage per play (18.3 PPG, 4.9 YPP).

So, Chicago appears to be having a bit of déjà vu in the early stages of this season, as the Bears jumped out to a surprisingly strong 2-1 start with tough wins over the Niners and Texans. However, Chicago’s offense still struggled in those contests, as Justin Fields and co. averaged just 17.3 PPG on 265 YPG across those their first three matchups, and it doesn’t look like things are getting better anytime soon, as Chicago averaged a similar 13.7 PPG on 322 YPG across consecutive losses to the Giants, Vikings, and Commanders in Weeks 4 through 6.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS BETTING ANALYSIS

The end-result was ultimately disappointing, but overall, New England still played pretty well in Mac Jones’ rookie campaign under-center, as the Patriots’ offense finished the year ranked seventh in scoring and tenth in yardage per play in just their second campaign following the departure of Tom Brady (26.6 PPG, 5.7 YPP).

However, New England’s identity has always resided with its defense under Belichick, and things haven’t been any different to start this season, as the Patriots held their opponent to 15 PTS or less in all three of their wins so far this year (9.7 PPG).
