Going into the series, the White Sox are third place in the AL Central standings. Meanwhile, the Giants are third place in the NL West. The White Sox are coming off a three-game road series at the Los Angeles Angels in which they dropped two of three. The Giants most recently split a pair vs. the visiting Detroit Tigers in interleague play. 

The White Sox are 2-3 in their last five games. The Giants are also 2-3 in their last five contests. 

Lynn has allowed 20 hits, three walks, and three home runs, while also tossing 17 strikeouts in 16 innings. Cobb has given up 53 hits, 14 walks, and five home runs, in addition to throwing 53 strikeouts in 46 innings. 

In his last outing on June 25 vs. the Baltimore Orioles, Lynn pitched 6.2 innings and allowed five earned runs and six hits, as well as throwing eight strikeouts. In Cobb’s last game against the Cincinnati Reds on June 24, he went 4.1 innings and gave up two earned runs and five hits with four strikeouts.

Center fielder Mike Yastrzemski leads the Giants in on-base percentage (.342) and is tied for second in RBI (31). Third baseman Wilmer Flores is tops for the Giants in RBI (40) and is second in hits (59).

The Giants are favored by 1.5 runs vs. the White Sox. The over/under is set for 7.5 runs.
