For each pick the records will show the date and time it was posted, the line and line source plus the win/loss result. Check out our Expert Records to see each handicappers records history and Leaderboards by sport.

VEGASINSIDER MLB PICK PACKAGES

Our MLB expert handicappers offer Daily and Insured pick packages. Each handicapper is sold separately and the number of picks varies for one to another. Some of the experts are very selective, only posting one pick per day which caters to the low volume bettors who manage their bankroll very carefully. There are also a handful of high volume experts who will post double digit picks per day providing value in terms of cost per pick.

We require all experts to submit a minimum of 50-word analysis with each of their expert picks. Packages may contain any combination of money lines, run lines and totals. Purchased picks are viewed in your My Insider page and can be posted up until one hour before game time, so check back throughout the day.

HOW DO MLB MONEYLINE PICKS WORK?

In baseball, a moneyline takes the place of a point spread. When it comes to moneyline betting, you just need the team you select to win the game straight up, regardless of the margin. In moneyline wagering, you always have a favorite and an underdog.

The minus sign (Ex. Nationals -120) indicates the favorite and the amount you must wager to win $100. In the above example, bettors would stake $120 to win $100 on the Nationals. The plus sign (Ex. Phillies +110) indicates the underdog and the amount you will win for every $100 wager. In this case, bettors would place $100 on the Phillies to win $110.

HOW DO MLB RUN LINE PICKS WORK?

The Run Line is similar to the point spread and is typically plus or minus 1 ½ runs. You either wager on a team to win by two or more runs or you bet on a team to either win outright or lose by just a single run. Since bettors are at a disadvantage by taking the favorite, oddsmakers install a positive return. In the above example, the Nationals are - 1 ½ (+160) and the Phillies are +1 ½ (-180).

If you wager $100 on the Nationals, you would earn $160 if they won the game by two or more runs. If they lost the game outright or won by exactly one run, you would lose your $100 wager. If you bet $100 on the Phillies, you would have to put up $180. This wager will win if Philadelphia wins outright or if they lose by exactly one run.

HOW DO MLB TOTAL (OVER/UNDER) PICKS WORK?

The "O/U", also known as Over/Under or Total, is the number of combined runs that the oddsmakers expect to be scored between the two teams. Bettors can either wager Over or Under on the runs listed.

For example, if the total is set at 10 runs, bettors taking the Over would win if the Phillies and Nationals score 11 or more runs in the game.

Bettors taking the Under would win if the teams combine for nine runs or less. If the game ends with 10 runs, it is considered a push (tie) and all wagers are refunded. Oddsmakers often associate a money line with "O/U" lines, which means bettors would have to lay extra money in some cases. Ex. Over 10 (-120) -- bettors would wager $120 to win $100.

MLB Expert Picks Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between MLB computer picks, consensus picks and expert picks?

The consensus picks we present are gathered using computer and expert-generated picks from industry-leading sources.

What is a "run line bet" when betting on baseball?

A run-line bet is a bet on the margin of victory by either team. They will typically be listed at +/- 1.5, with the +equaling an underdog while the - indicates a favorite.

Can you bet on totals in baseball?

Yes, you absolutely can. If you take over 7.5 runs scored, then you win if there are 8 or more runs scored and lose if there are less than 8 scored.

Does VegasInsider offer MLB expert pick packages?

Yes we do, and they will be posted up until one hour prior to the game starting.
