UPDATE 4:30 P.M. ET SATURDAY: The 2024 NBA Finals will not end in a sweep after Boston finally fell back to earth in Game 4. Dallas responded out of the gates with its season on the line, and the star duo of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic outscored the Celtics with 22 points in the first quarter to Boston's 21 points. The Mavericks continued their onslaught en route to a 122-84 win — the first time the Mavs cracked 100 points in the Finals — to extend the series to Game 5 in Boston on Monday night.

Boston opened as a -225 favorite in Mavericks vs Celtics series odds, with Dallas a +180 underdog at BetMGM. Heading into Game 4, the line moved to Celtics -10000/Mavs +2000.

Now, with the series headed back to Boston with the Celtics up 3-1, BetMGM has the Celtics as -3000 favorites, with the Mavericks listed as +1300 underdogs to win the next three games. That's generally fine with BetMGM, but the book would like Dallas to stretch this series out to six or even seven games.

"No question that we'll be cheering for Boston, but as always, we'll take a long series," BetMGM trader Hal Egeland said.

The public seems to believe Luka will work his magic as 90% of the bets on the series hav been on the Mavericks since their win in Game 4, according to BetMGM's John Ewing.

For Game 5 of the NBA Finals, BetMGM opened Celtics -7.5 despite the blowout loss, but that line has moved to Celtics -6.5. The total opened at 209.5, which is the fourth-straight game it has fallen since the Game 1 when the total was 217.5. The Under is 4-0 in this series.

NBA Finals MVP odds still have Celtics star Jaylen Brown in the driver's seat. Brown moved from -350 entering Game 4 to -225 ahead of Game 5. Brown still has the second-highest ticket percentage, but now has highest handle percentage of any player on the board. He remains the third-biggest liability for BetMGM behind Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic.
