COLORADO AVALANCHE vs. CALGARY FLAMES PREDICTIONS

The Colorado Avalanche haven't had a lot of difficult times this season, but lately it is stumbling toward the finish line. It's easy to take your eye off the prize with a giant divisional lead, as the Avs lead the second-place Minnesota Wild by 14 points. Colorado has dropped two of its past three games, notching two or fewer goals in both of the setbacks.

The Flames are looking to avenge a 3-0 setback in Denver on March 13. Prior to that, the Flames picked up a 4-3 overtime win in Denver on March 5. These are the two division leaders in the Western Conference, and this could be a preview of bigger things to come in the postseason. Calgary has posted three wins in the past four games, including two straight wins with a total of 13 goals. The Flames are coming off a 9-5 win over the provincial rival Edmonton Oilers on Saturday at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The good news for the Avalanche is that the trends are in their favor, as far as the series is concerned. The Avalanche are 7-2 in the past nine meetings, while the underdog has connected in seven of the past nine, too. The UNDER is 3-0-1 in the past four meetings in Calgary, too.

Colorado can hit the century mark in points with a victory, but it has been sputtering lately. Calgary has been on fire at home, and the Flames are the play in this game. It likely will be by a very slim margin, as these are two very good teams locking horns. Expect timely goals, solid defense and very good goaltending in what could be a preview of the Western Conference Finals.
