NEW YORK ISLANDERS vs. ST. LOUIS BLUES PREDICTIONS

The Islanders scratched out a 2-1 road win against the Carolina Hurricanes as moderate underdogs on Friday night. The Isles allowed a goal to tie the game with 57 seconds left in regulation with the extra attacker, but Kyle Palmieri stunned the home crowd with 15 seconds left on a wraparound goal to win it. They had to immediately hop a plane from RDU to STL, and lose an hour on the time change, too.

The Blues also played Friday night, but at least they were on home ice. St. Louis picked up a 4-3 win in overtime over the Minnesota Wild, its fourth consecutive win. They're also 6-0-1 in the past seven in regulation, outscoring the opposition 13-5 across the past three outings. The Blues are looking to avenge a 2-1 loss at UBS Arena in Elmont back on March 5, as Ilya Sorokin helped the home side edge Jordan Binnington and the visitors.

NEW YORK ISLANDERS BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 33-28-9
  • ATS: 33-37
  • O/U: 31-36-3

The Islanders might not be headed for the postseason, but New York is definitely not giving up down the stretch. The Isles registered a 2-1 road win against the Carolina Hurricanes as the UNDER cashed on Friday, and they're 5-1 in the past six games, including three one-goal wins.

The Isles have won five of the past six games overall, while going 4-1 in the past five on the road. However, the Isles have posted just a 5-12 record in the past 17 games when playing on no rest, while going 5-14 in the past 19 as a road underdog. They're also 6-22 in the past 28 as an underdog, while going 8-25 in the past 33 against teams with a winning record.

As far as totals are concerned, the OVER is 15-7 in the past 22 games on the road, while going 5-2 in the past seven against Central Division teams. The OVER is 4-1 in the past five against Western Conference teams, too, but the UNDER is 4-1 in the past five when working on no rest.

ST. LOUIS BLUES BETTING ANALYSIS

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 41-20-10
  • ATS: 41-30
  • O/U: 35-32-4

The Blues have picked up wins in four in a row, while going 6-0-1 in the past seven outings overall. Their last loss in regulation was a 7-2 setback against the Carolina Hurricanes on March 26. The Blues have outscored the opposition by a 13-5 count across the past three outings. St. Louis has scored four or more goals in seven straight outings, averaging 4.57 goals per game.

St. Louis has picked up four straight home games, while going 22-8 in the past 30 games as a home favorite. The Blues have won just once in the past five when playing on no rest, however, while going 2-8 in the past 10 against Eastern Conference teams while going 1-4 in the past five against Metropolitan Division teams.

For totals, the OVER is 11-4 in the past 15 games overall, while going 4-0 in the past four against Eastern Conference teams and 4-0 in the past four against Metropolitan Division teams, too. The OVER is also 7-2 in the past nine when playing on no rest.

NEW YORK ISLANDERS vs. ST. LOUIS BLUES BETTING CONCLUSION

This is a difficult turnaround for the Islanders, going from Raleigh to St. Louis, and doing so in less than 24 hours. While the Blues also were on the ice for game action Friday, at least they were at home. That lack of travel, and sleeping in their own beds, will be great for the Blues.

While laying nearly one and a half times your potential return is a little on the expensive side, it's a good bet. The Islanders did win the first meeting in New York by a 2-1 score, and you can expect another close game here. Expect more goals, too, as the legs will be a little tired for both teams, the defense will be a tad lazier than usual, and the goaltenders are going to face a lot of rubber.
