Oregon State vs. Oklahoma State Predictions

Two of the hottest teams in the country take the court in this one. Oregon State has been a lock to cover the spread this season, along with the point total going OVER. The same can be said about Oklahoma State, only they have the projected No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft in Cade Cunningham.

Although Oregon State has been impressive this season, and coming from someone who thought they were tournament-good prior to the Pac-12 Tournament, this might be the end for the Beavers. The conviction lie with talent in this one, which goes to Oklahoma State. The Beavers are coached well, and have a deadly one-two punch at guard, but bet on Cunningham and Co. to reach the Sweet 16 and cover.

If you fancy the Beavers, or unsure on the spread between two schools that cover well, then take the common denominator a the point total going OVER. The schools have combined for over 30 games in which the total went OVER. The point total market is a better bet of the two.

Handicapping Oregon State vs. Oklahoma State

The point total market is much better to consider, as the schools are expected to go OVER. The spread market is a bit tricky, as both schools are very good at covering the spread. Oklahoma State has gone OVER the point total in seven of its last nine games, while Oregon State has gone OVER the point total in six of its last seven games.

Betting Stats & Analysis - Oregon State Beavers

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

Although many say Oregon State is just catching fire, they are much better than the credit given to them. They have two top scorers, a good coach and a true center down low. They have also covered the spread in seven of its last nine games as the underdog, which they are against Oklahoma State.

There are three things Oregon State does well that has seen them just one game away from a Sweet 16 appearance. They find open shooters (14.9 assists per game ranks 71st nationally), they hit free throws (75.5% ranks 42nd nationally) and they hit three-pointers (35.7% ranks 85th nationally).

Betting Stats & Analysis - Oklahoma State Cowboys

The Cowboys have covered the spread in nine of their last 10 games, so the Beavers might be in trouble here. Oklahoma State has only been the favorite once however, over its last nine games. The pressure has never been on them, until the NCAA Tournament started.

They handled it well against a good Liberty team, but Oregon State is much better than the Flames. Oklahoma State doesn't have as good of a free throw percentage as Oregon State, but they get to the line and make more free throws per game than the Beavers do.

Oklahoma State's defense is also better, averaging 7.3 steals per game (ranks 79th in nation) and 4.5 blocker per game (ranks 38th in nation).

Key Players to Watch

Ethan Thompson and Jarod Lucas are the one-two punch for this Beavers team. They are as good of a scoring duo as any in the country, still not garnered the national respect they deserve. Big man Roman Silva also gives the Beavers a nice big body to anchor the paint down low.

Cade Cunningham is the obvious name to watch for Oklahoma State, although Isaac Likekele is picking up right where he left off prior to his injury. The stats won't show it, but he is the second-most important player to this Oklahoma State team.

  • ORST - Ethan Thompson (15.3 PPG)
  • ORST - Jarod Lucas (13 PPG)
  • OKST - Cade Cunningham (20 PPG, 6.3 RPG)
  • OKST - Avery Anderson (12 PPG, 4.1 RPG)
