The Raiders check into Kansas City looking for a little revenge after getting absolutely annihilated by 41-14 on a Sunday nighter at Allegiant Stadium in Vegas in Week 10.

It's been a season of distractions for the Raiders, from the Jon Gruden e-mail situation and subsequent resignation, the Henry Ruggs III off-field alcohol-related driving incident and the Damon Arnette social media debacle, it appears to have finally taken a toll on the Raiders. Or, they're just not quite as good as they were earlier in the season, which is difficult when moving to an interim head coach, a different voice at the head of the room, etc. It sounds like an excuse, but it's difficult for any organization.

The Chiefs aren't feeling sorry for the Raiders. Kansas City looked like had been found out. They were 3-4 SU/2-5 ATS through the first seven games, and the Twitterverse was exploding with fans wringing their hands, critics coming out of the woodwork and the sky was reportedly falling in Kansas City. They have won five in a row, and the past three games have been covers. And the biggest part of the turnaround for the Chiefs is on defense. They were unwatchable earlier in the season, but they have been tremendous during the five-game win streak, allowing just 11.2 PPG.

While the Raiders have managed a .500 record overall, they haven't had a ton of success against the number, either, especially lately. Vegas is 1-4 ATS across the past five games overall, including a disappointing 17-15 home loss last Sunday to the Washington Football Team. They have had a power outage in four of the past five outings, too, posting 16 or fewer points in four of the games.

The Raiders have alternated the UNDER and OVER in each of the past six games, too, including Week 10 when they hit the OVER against the Chiefs. Well, it was mostly due to the performance of the Kansas City offense, which put up 41 points toward the 53.5-point total. Las Vegas is just 1-4 ATS in the past five games inside the division, while going 1-4 ATS in the past five in the month of December.

As far as the total, the OVER is 5-1 in the past six for the Raiders inside the division, while cashing in 10 of the past 13 against AFC foes overall. The OVER is 10-4-1 in the past 15 against teams with a winning overall record, too.

Kansas City Chiefs Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

The Chiefs offense just hasn't been hitting on all cylinders this season, but they're still finding a way to reinvent themselves to win and cover games. Kansas City pushed past Denver 22-9 last week, and it wasn't pretty on Sunday night. But a little bit of offense, and a pick-six on D led to the win and cover. That's three covers in a row.

The Chiefs are still just 7-16 ATS in the past 23 games overall, so it hasn't been a problem covering this season, but into last season, too. They're just 3-10 ATS in the past 13 games at home, too, and 3-9 ATS in the past 12 as a home favorite, too.

On totals, this is the shocking part. Well, perhaps not anymore, because we know the offense is struggling, and that the defense has been stepping up. But if you told someone UNDER results would be frequent before the season with this offense, or in the middle of the season with how the defense struggled early, you might get laughed at. But the UNDER is 6-1 in the past seven overall for the Chiefs, and 4-0 in the past four at Arrowhead.

One of these teams is playing well, and one of these is playing better. When picking games in the NFL, it sounds simplistic, but it should be as easy as that. But the 2021 regular season has been defying logic, as there is little consistency outside of a handful of teams. Even then, some of the top-end teams have been struggling, too. The Chiefs have been terrible at times this season, but they're playing their way into a potential No. 1 seed. A win here would put them in the driver's seat in what has been a pretty competitive AFC West Division to this point.

The Chiefs lost to the Raiders straight up at home last season, but they're 4-1 ATS in the past five home games in this series. The home team is 7-3 ATS in the past 10 meetings overall in this series, but last season the road team is 3-0 SU/ATS in the past three in the series.

The one constant is the UNDER when meeting in Arrowhead, no matter who is playing well, not well, etc. And the Chiefs have hit the UNDER in four in a row at home, and six of seven overall. That's the play here, with a small-unit play on the home side, better yet as part of a teaser.
