After finishing second in the NFC East with a record of 6-10 last year, New York stumbled out to an incredibly underwhelming start to this season, as the Giants opened the year with a rocky 1-5 skid – which included disappointing losses to Atlanta, Denver, and Washington.

The Giants’ defense has considerably stepped up its game since Week 6 though, and it’s beginning to breed some success, as New York enters Sunday’s contest 3-3 SU and 4-2 ATS across the last six games – while surrendering just 16 PPG on 329.2 YPG across that window.

On the other hand, Los Angeles stormed out to an excellent start to the new season, as the Chargers went into Week 6 boasting wins in four of their first five games – which included impressive victories over the Chiefs, Raiders, and Browns.

L. A. has been incredibly inconsistent offensively and straight-up bad defensively since starting 4-1 though, highlighted by the Chargers’ offense generating 20 PTS or less in three of the last seven games (24.6 PPG) – and their defense surrendering 27+ PTS in five matchups across that same window.

I’ll take the over here, as the Chargers will likely show out offensively in this matchup, having racked up 40+ PTS in two of the last three games (31.2 PPG, 424.3 YPG) – yet their defense hasn’t slowed down anybody recently, having surrendered 22+ PTS in eight straight games, so we’ll probably see scoring from both sides.

The Chargers enter Sunday’s contest favored by roughly ten points over the visiting Giants – marking the first time L. A. has been favored by six points or more this season.

The total for Sunday’s matchup is stationed near OU 43 at most shops, which marks the lowest over-under set for a Chargers’ game this season.

It’s beginning to look like Giants’ QB, Daniel Jones, is going to miss a second consecutive week with a neck injury – causing the over-under for this contest to plummet from OU 47 to somewhere near OU 43 at most shops.

Whether it’s Jones, Mike Glennon, or Jake Fromm under-center for New York, I still like the over in this matchup, as the Chargers’ rush-defense has been terrible all season, as they rank 31st in rushing yardage allowed and 28th in yards allowed per rush attempt (141.2 YPG, 4.6 YPC) – which should ultimately be the Giants’ primary focus this week.

The first half of the Chargers’ schedule was extremely difficult, as by Week 8, L. A. had already matched up against a tedious gauntlet of opponents that consisted of the Chiefs, Cowboys, Raiders, Browns, Ravens, and Patriots.

The vast majority expected the Chargers to bounce back once their schedule began to gradually weaken though, however, their defense is somewhat prohibiting that, as L. A. enters Week 14 following losses in four of the last seven games – while surrendering 28.4 PPG across that stretch.

After pulling off an upset victory over Cincinnati last week, the Chargers enter this Sunday’s contest as a 10-point home favorite over the visiting Giants – marking the third time New York has been a double-digit underdog this season.

I’ll take the over here, as the Chargers’ defense has surrendered 22+ PTS in eight straight games, which includes matchups against relatively pedestrian offensive opponents like the Broncos, Steelers, and Eagles – yet I still expect L. A. to win this matchup rather easily.
