Betting on the Indiana Pacers
In a volatile and unpredictable world, one thing will always remain true; Indiana eats, sleeps, and breathes basketball. Have you seen Hoosiers?
Indiana Pacers Franchise History
The Hoosier state has loved its Pacers since the team’s ABA days. Cruelly enough, however, this rabid fanbase has never seen its team win an NBA title.
Despite never winning an NBA championship, the Pacers have consistently competed for playoff position and been a successful franchise overall.
The state’s greatest basketball icon, Reggie Miller, brought the Pacers to the brink in 2000, but he and the team fell short against the Shaq-and-Kobe Lakers.
Before Miller, there was Rik Smits. Since Miller, and the team’s lone NBA Finals appearance, Jermaine O’Neal and fan-favorite Danny Granger have led the charge.
In the early 2010s, Granger, alongside teammates Roy Hibbert, David West, and Paul George, often battled LeBron James and the Miami Heat in the playoffs.
Unfortunately for the Pacers, it didn’t go very well, as the Heat took them out in back-to-back Conference Finals in 2013 and 2014.
Their young exciting All-Star Tyrese Haliburton is now leading the charge in Indiana as fans hope to one day the Pacers win an NBA Finals trophy.
🏀 Betting on the Pacers in Indiana 🏀
Online and retail sports betting are legal in the Hoosier State. In 2019, the first retail and online sportsbooks launched, setting the stage for what has been a popular betting market.
There are over 10 retail sports betting locations in Indiana and almost as many online operators. The first books to go live in Indiana were BetRivers and DraftKings.
Since then, they’ve been joined by a few competitors, most notably FanDuel and BetMGM.
A common bet placed on NBA games is a point spread bet. Let’s use a game between the Pacers and Heat as an example. A spread bet could look something like this:
- Pacers -2.5
- Heat +2.5
A bettor who places a wager on Pacers -2.5 needs the Pacers to win the game by at least 3 points. If the Pacers win by fewer than 3, or if they lose outright, the bettor loses their wager.

Indiana Pacers Sportsbook Partnership with DraftKings
The Pacers partnered with DraftKings in the first quarter of 2020, making the sportsbook giant the team’s first official betting partner.
The deal gave DraftKings the ability to advertise in Banker’s Life Fieldhouse and during the Pacers’ postgame show.
