Atlanta Hawks Odds & Betting Guide: 2026-27 Season
Atlanta finished 2025-26 at 46-36, won the Southeast Division and took the East’s No. 6 seed after Toronto claimed the tiebreaker with a 4-0 season-series sweep. That record hides two different teams. The Hawks sat at 26-30 on Feb. 11, then went 20-6 after the All-Star break, including an 11-game winning streak.
The playoffs ended badly. Atlanta led the eventual champion Knicks 2-1 in the first round, then lost three straight, and New York closed the series with a 140-89 win in Game 6. That 51-point margin is what bettors remember, but the 2-1 lead is the better read on how the Hawks matched up at full strength.
The roster turned over again. The Hawks traded Trae Young to Washington on Jan. 9, 2026, for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert, and Jalen Johnson became the clear focal point. Johnson made his first All-Star team and the All-NBA Third Team after averaging 22.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 7.9 assists. This summer, president of basketball operations Onsi Saleh and coach Quin Snyder both signed extensions, and Snyder enters his fourth full season.
Saleh traded for two perimeter defenders from Oklahoma City, Lu Dort and Aaron Wiggins. He re-signed McCollum for one year at $21 million and kept Jock Landale at $14.1 million. Atlanta drafted guard Kingston Flemings at No. 8 and Zuby Ejiofor at No. 23, sent 2024 No. 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher to Dallas in the Dort deal, and lost Jonathan Kuminga to Minnesota in free agency. The thin spot is center: Onyeka Okongwu and Landale are the only true bigs, and a foot injury will likely keep Mouhamed Gueye out early in the season.
Eastern Conference and Southeast Division context
Four Southeast teams finished within three games of each other last spring: Atlanta at 46 wins, Orlando at 45, Charlotte at 44 and Miami at 43. Each team plays its division rivals four times, 16 of 82 games. The Hawks see three of them in their first eight days: at Orlando on Oct. 21, at Charlotte on Oct. 23 and home against Miami on Oct. 28.
Miami’s trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo moved the books. BetMGM opened the division with the Heat at +125, the Hawks at +300 and the Magic at +350. Track current prices on our Southeast Division odds page and the wider Eastern Conference odds market.
Division winners no longer get a guaranteed top-four seed, so the 7-through-10 play-in line matters more to Atlanta’s price than the banner does. Six East teams finished between 43 and 46 wins last season. Charlotte led the league at 50-32 against the spread, as the Charlotte Hornets odds page shows. Miami went over the total in 46 of 82 games, per the Miami Heat odds page.
The Hawks angle: Atlanta went 4-0 straight up against Orlando last season, including a 130-101 win in Orlando on April 1. DraftKings still opened the Magic as 2.5-point favorites for the Oct. 21 opener.
Hawks 2026-27 win total
BetMGM lists Atlanta at 43.5 wins, over -120 and under +100. FanDuel’s late-July number was 44.5, a full win higher. The over at -120 implies 54.5%, and the under at +100 implies 50%. The heavier juice on the over shows where money has landed at that book. It doesn’t tell you whether 44 wins is likely.
The bear case starts with last spring’s schedule. Eleven of Atlanta’s 20 post-break wins came against teams that finished with 32 or fewer wins. The NBA’s new 3-2-1 lottery takes effect with the 2027 draft and cuts the reward for finishing in the bottom three, so fewer teams should give away games in March. Compare every team’s line on our NBA win totals page.
Hawks 2026-27 futures odds
FanDuel prices Atlanta at +7500 to win the 2027 NBA Finals, about 1.3% implied. BetMGM has the Hawks at +2200 to win the East, roughly 4.3%. FanDuel also lists them at +270 to reach the conference semifinals.
MVP boards list Johnson at +25000. He played 72 games last season, past the 65-game threshold for major awards, so eligibility shouldn’t sink that ticket. Flemings opened at +10000 for Rookie of the Year at DraftKings, a long price for a guard who’ll share the ball with McCollum and Johnson. The full board lives on our NBA futures page.

Betting Hawks point spreads
Books set a point spread to turn an uneven matchup into a roughly even bet. The favorite gives points, the underdog takes them.
Hawks -6.5 (-110) / Wizards +6.5 (-110)
The Hawks cover by winning the game by seven or more. The Wizards cover by winning outright or losing by six or fewer. The half-point means neither side can push. A winning $100 bet at -110 returns $190.91: the $100 stake plus $90.91 in profit. A losing bet returns nothing.
Both sides here are priced at -110, and that is where the book earns. You risk $110 to win $100 whichever side you take. When books post a whole number instead, a game decided by exactly that margin pushes and both sides get their stake back.
Atlanta covered 44 of 82 games last season, a 53.7% rate worth +2 units on VI’s NBA ATS rankings. That tied for the eighth-best cover rate in the league. The season split mattered more: the Hawks covered 17 of their 25 lined games after the All-Star break.
The Hawks angle: Atlanta’s schedule packs 14 back-to-backs into its 80 dated games, and seven of them end on the road. The roughest comes Dec. 26-27, home against Charlotte and then at San Antonio. In March the Hawks play six straight road games from March 15 to 24, with a stop at Utah’s altitude on March 17 and a Lakers-Clippers back-to-back on March 19-20. A seven-game homestand from Feb. 5 to 16 sits on the other side of the ledger.
Betting Hawks totals
Books set a total for the combined points both teams score, then let bettors take a side. Say books post Hawks vs. Heat at 226.5. The over cashes if the two teams combine for 227 or more. The under cashes at 226 or fewer. A half-point total cannot push.
NBA totals follow pace. Two fast teams produce more possessions and more scoring chances, and that matters more to the number than either team’s shooting percentage.
Why Hawks totals move: Atlanta split 41-41 on totals last season, so books priced its scoring well overall. The swings came from personnel and matchups. Books closed the two December home games against Chicago at 248.5 and 254.5, then priced the Knicks series between 214.5 and 217.5. With Okongwu and Landale as the only centers, foul trouble or rest for either one pushes Atlanta into smaller lineups, and books move the number when the injury report moves. VI’s handicappers post free plays, totals included, on our NBA picks page.
Betting the Hawks moneyline
The moneyline asks one question: who wins. Points do not matter.
Hawks -240 / Nets +200
Minus marks the favorite, plus the underdog. At -240 you risk $240 to win $100. At +200 you risk $100 to win $200.
Converting to implied probability makes the pricing clearer. The -240 favorite implies 70.6%. The +200 underdog implies 33.3%. Those sum to 103.9%, not 100%. The extra 3.9 points are the book’s margin, and the book collects it whichever side wins.
One thing worth getting straight: a short price is not automatically a bad bet. Bettors call heavy favorites bad value out of habit, but if the Hawks win this matchup 75% of the time, -240 is a price worth taking, because it only implies 70.6%. Value is the gap between real probability and priced probability. The size of the number tells you nothing on its own.
When one side carries heavier juice than the other, that tells you where money is landing, not which side is correct. If the Hawks drift from -240 to -270, bettors backed the Hawks and the book adjusted its exposure. The team did not become more likely to win.

Hawks player props
A player prop prices one player’s production in one game.
Jalen Johnson points: 24.5 (over -115, under -105)
The over needs 25 points. The under needs 24 or fewer.
NBA props respond to availability more than anything else. When a teammate is ruled out, his minutes and shots move to the players still on the floor, and books adjust within minutes of the news. Check the injury report before betting a prop, and check the book’s rules for a player who does not play, because they differ between books.
Atlanta’s guard rotation makes early props harder to price. McCollum, Dort, Wiggins and Flemings all need minutes, so books will lean on the first few box scores before they settle usage. Johnson’s assist line is worth a look too, since he averaged 7.9 as the team’s main ball handler. Find nightly lines on our NBA player props page.
Hawks line movement: open versus consensus
VI’s odds board shows two numbers for every Hawks game. The Open is the first line a Las Vegas or global book posts. The Consensus is the median current line across VI’s books. When the consensus sits off the open, bettors have pushed the books to a new number, and the direction shows where the money went. If the Oct. 21 game opens at Magic -2.5 and the consensus settles at Magic -1, the market has moved a point and a half toward Atlanta. Check both columns on our NBA odds board.
Closing lines finish the picture. VI’s NBA matchups page tracks line movement and ATS results game by game, and last April shows how the market read Atlanta. The Hawks closed as 6-point underdogs in both Madison Square Garden games of the Knicks series and split them. They then closed at +2.5 in Game 6 and lost by 51.
Prediction markets
Prediction markets price Hawks futures as contracts that pay $1 if the event happens, so a 1-cent price reads as a 1% chance. Polymarket trades Flemings for Rookie of the Year at 1%, almost exactly what DraftKings’ +10000 opener implies. Gaps between the two markets show up most on long shots, where thin trading can leave a contract price behind the news. If you want to open an account, our FanDuel Predicts promo code page lists the current new-user offer.
