UPDATE 9:45 P.M. ET SATURDAY: With 45 minutes until kickoff, Southern Cal is laying 29.5 points at BetMGM Nevada. That's where the line has been pretty much all week, quickly going from USC -28.5 to -29.5 Sunday.

"Tickets are basically dead even, a handful more on USC. A lot of tickets on both sides. Money is just over 2/1 in favor of USC," BetMGM Nevada's Scott Shelton said of spread action. "They are playing Stanford moneyline +1800. Virtually all the money is on Stanford."

That said, it's not a heavily played market. But at +1800, it would certainly make a dent in BetMGM Nevada's bottom line if Stanford pulled a monster upset.

The total opened at 70.5, peaked at 71.5, then receded to 69.5.

"But they're playing the Over. Tickets are 6/1 and money 5/1 on the Over," Shelton said.

UPDATE 1:30 P.M. ET FRIDAY: BetMGM quickly went from Southern Cal -28.5 to -29.5 Sunday. The Trojans adjusted to -29.5 (-115) on Thursday and are now back at -29 flat.

It's two-way action on the spread, with 51% of tickets on favored USC and 56% of money on big 'dog Stanford.

BetMGM's total initially rose from 70.5 to 71.5 Monday, quickly dialed down to 68.5, then made its way to 70 by this morning. Early ticket count is 5/1 and early money 9/1-plus on the Over.

UPDATE 2 P.M. ET MONDAY: Southern Cal (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS) has two blowout wins to its credit thus far. In Week 1, the Trojans blasted Nevada 66-14 laying 38.5 points at home.

Stanford (1-0 SU and ATS) closed as a 2.5-point favorite at Hawaii and won 37-24.

A couple hours after Stanford-USC opened Sunday afternoon, Caesars went from Trojans -28.5 to -29.5. The total is stable at 71.

  • Opening point spread: Alabama -6.5
  • Opening moneyline: Alabama -275/Texas +215
  • Opening total: Over/Under 57 points scored
  • Time: 7 p.m. ET Saturday (ESPN)

UPDATE 6:15 P.M. ET SATURDAY: With kickoff looming, Alabama is at -7 (-115) in BetMGM's college football odds Week 2 market. The Crimson Tide opened -6.5 and spent time at -7.5 before returning ot -7.

Spread ticket count is 2/1 and spread money 4/1 on Alabama. However, on the moneyline – currently Alabama -300/Texas +240 – it's 4/1 tickets and cash on the underdog Longhorns.

"We're going to need Texas pretty big to cover. Liability is building on the Tide," BetMGM senior trader Cameron Drucker said. "Texas covering regardless of result is best, but if the Longhorns lose by 1-6, that would be perfect."

The total is down to 53.5 from a 57.5 opener. It's two-way play, with 59% of bets/52% of money on the Over.

UPDATE 1 P.M. ET SATURDAY: Alabama opened -8, then toggled between -7.5 and -7 through midweek at PointsBet, a Fanatics Experience. The Crimson Tide have been stable at -7 since Wednesday, while taking 63% of spread tickets/57% of spread money.

PointsBet's total saw a bigger move, from a 57 opener down to 53.5. The Over is getting 63% of tickets, while 78% of money is on the Under.

UPDATE 2 P.M. ET MONDAY: This Big 12-SEC showdown is hands down the Game of the Week in the college football odds Week 2 market.

Alabama (1-0 SU/0-1 ATS) boatraced Middle Tennessee State 56-7 in Week 1. The Crimson Tide easily covered as hefty 39.5-point home faves. Texas had no trouble in its opener, beating Rice 37-10. But the Longhorns (1-0 SU/0-1 ATS) didn't cover the 35.5-point spread.

Texas and Alabama also met in Week 2 last season. The Crimson Tide – laying 21 points in Austin – squeaked out a 20-19 victory on a field goal in the waning seconds.

TwinSpires Sportsbook opened the Crimson Tide -6.5 and is up to -7. Tickets and money are both in the 2.5/1 range on Alabama.

"Anytime you can get a touchdown or less on 'Bama at home, you're likely going to take it. Our bettors feel the same way," Lucas said.

The total inched down to 56.5, with 67% of early tickets on the Over and 56% of early cash on the Under.

"Sharp play on Under 57," Lucas said.

No. 13 Oregon vs Texas Tech Odds

Matchup Spread Total Moneyline
  • Opening point spread: Oregon -6.5
  • Opening moneyline: Oregon -240/Texas Tech +190
  • Opening total: Over/Under 67 points scored
  • Time: 7 p.m. ET Saturday (FOX)

UPDATE 6:30 P.M. ET SATURDAY: Late sharp money on Texas Tech +6.5 took Oregon down to -5.5 at BetMGM. However, senior trader Cameron Drucker said the book is still a small winner on Texas Tech at the moment.

UPDATE 1:30 P.M. ET FRIDAY: BetMGM hasn't budged off Oregon -6.5, with the exception of a couple of juice adjustments to -6.5 (-115). The Ducks are currently -6.5 flat, while taking 71% of spread tickets/74% of spread money.

Moneyline tickets are almost dead even, but 90% of moneyline cash is on Oregon -250.

BetMGM's total went from 66.5 to 69 by Thursday afternoon and is now 68.5. Practically all the early action is on the Over, with tickets and money 9/1-plus.

UPDATE 2 P.M. ET MONDAY: Oregon takes a big step up in level of competition this week. In Week 1, the Ducks (1-0 SU and ATS) flatlined FCS foe Portland State 81-7 as a monster 48.5-point favorite.

On the flip side, Texas Tech (0-1 SU and ATS) went to Wyoming as a 14-point favorite and left with a 35-33 double-overtime loss.

The Ducks are up to -7 at TwinSpires, with early ticket count 6/1 and early money 9/1 on the favorite.

"Oregon is a very popular play. That's not a surprise after Oregon's performance last week and Tech losing outright as a 14-point fave. We're going to need the home 'dog in this one," Lucas said.

TwinSpires' total is up a point to 68, with ticket count 2.5/1 and money 3/1 on the Over.

UPDATE 7:15 P.M. SATURDAY: Wisconsin is a 5.5-point favorite at BetMGM, still up from the -4.5 opener but down from the -6.5 high point earlier in the week.

"Really balanced action," BetMGM senior trader Cameron Drucker said. "We're either a small winner or small loser on both sides at the moment."

UPDATE 1:30 P.M. ET FRIDAY: The Badgers hit BetMGM's college football Week 2 odds board as 4.5-point favorites Sunday and stretched to -6.5 by Monday afternoon. On Wednesday afternoon, the line inched down to Wisconsin -6.

It's two-way action on the spread, with 56% of bets/59% of dollars on the road favorite Badgers. BetMGM's moneyline went from Badgers -250/Cougars +200 to -225/+180. The underdog is the early play on the moneyline, with tickets 3/1-plus and money almost 8/1.

The total jumped from 54.5 to 58.5 by Tuesday, then went to 58 this afternoon. The Over is landing 57% of tickets/62% of money.

UPDATE 2 P.M. ET MONDAY: Wisconsin (1-0 SU/0-1 ATS) dumped Buffalo 38-17, but fell well short of covering as a 28.5-point home chalk in Week 1. Washington State (1-0 SU and ATS) was an 8.5-point favorite at Colorado State and rolled 50-24.

The Wisconsin-Washington State line has been all over the map early on at Caesars Sports. After opening Badgers -6 Sunday afternoon, the spread quickly fell to -5.5, then later to -4.5. It bottomed out this morning at Wisconsin -3.5, and it's since been on a big rebound, now at a peak of Badgers -6.5.

By contrast, the total hasn't moved at all. Caesars opened the moneyline this afternoon at Badgers -240/Cougars +196, and it's now at Badgers -250/Cougars +205.

The total combed from 51.5 to 53 by Tuesday and hasn't moved since. Practically all the tickets and money are on the Over at this point.

UPDATE 2 P.M. ET MONDAY: Florida State played in the biggest game of Week 1, a Sunday night neutral-site showdown in Orlando against LSU. The eighth-ranked Seminoles met the moment, hammering the No. 5 Tigers 45-24 as 1.5-point underdogs.

Nebraska vs No. 22 Colorado Odds

Matchup Spread Total Moneyline
  • Opening point spread: Colorado -5.5
  • Opening moneyline: Colorado -150/Nebraska +130
  • Opening total: Over/Under 65.5 points scored
  • Time: Noon ET Saturday (FOX)

UPDATE 11:15 A.M. ET SATURDAY: Nationally, BetMGM had a lookahead line last week of Nebraska -8.5. The game reopened Sunday afternoon at Colorado -2.5, peaked at Buffs -3.5 a couple times and is now Colorado -2.5 (-115).

Spread ticket count and money are both running 6/1 on Colorado. And BetMGM Nevada – the sportsbook operator's Las Vegas market – is seeing 4/1 tickets and 5/1 money on Colorado. And bettors are on Buffs moneyline as well.

"This is by far the most heavily bet game, ticket-wise and money-wise. It doesn't look like there's a close second," BetMGM Nevada's Scott Shelton said. "The ticket count on Colorado is crazy. There's not an NFL team with as many spread tickets as Colorado. Colorado has four times as many spread bets as any pro team.

"We need Nebraska outright."

UPDATE 3:30 P.M. ET THURSDAY: It's all Colorado, all the time this week at PointsBet, a Fanatics Experience. A week ago, on the lookahead line, Nebraska was an 8.5-point favorite. After Colorado's big upset of TCU, PointsBet reopened at Nebraska -1.5.

The line quickly jumped the fence, and the Buffaloes are now up to -3. Handle on the Buffs is huge, not just in context to the game itself, but against every other matchup. PointsBet senior editor Max Meyer reports that Colorado has taken six times more spread money than any other team on the college football Week 2 odds board.

In fact, PointsBet is seeing more spread cash on Colorado than on 30 of 32 teams in NFL Week 1 matchups. Only the Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions – playing in the tonight's NFL season opener – have taken more spread money than the Buffaloes.

"I can’t recall a time in the last few years where one college football team’s handle dwarfed everyone else in college football during a game week," PointsBet trader Wyatt Satre said. "I think this line move is an overreaction because of the limited sample size, and not much is known about how consistent this team can be with all the new transfers. I’m expecting a little sharp action on Nebraska, but not a ton, given that Colorado has such a wide range of potential outcomes.”

UPDATE 2 P.M. ET TUESDAY: Colorado opened as a 1.5-point favorite at TwinSpires Sportsbook and is already out to -3.5. Early ticket count is 3/1 and early money beyond 5/1 on the Buffaloes, in a college football odds Week 2 market that's traveled a long way since last week's lookahead line.

"The line movement on this deserves its own story. We had Nebraska at -7.5 last week, with money coming in on the Huskers," TwinSpires director of retail sports Zachary Lucas said. "The hype train is real. Public, sharps, you name it, they’re on Colorado this week. Colorado very easily could be our biggest liability by the time this game starts."

TwinSpires' total is already up to 59.5 from a 57.5 opener, with tickets 2/1 and money 3/1 on the Over.

"After the Buffaloes' performance last week, it's safe to say we’ll need the Under," Lucas said.

UPDATE 4:30 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Circa Sports has a very different approach to bookmaking than most. Circa's oddsmakers revel in the price discovery process, eager to figure out where resistance points – sharp bettors' resistance points, to be specific – exist on any given matchup.

So at 2 p.m. ET today, Circa opened Colorado a 5-point favorite, with a total of 65.5. That was a couple steps further than other books, where Colorado was floating between -1.5 and -2.5, with a total of 58.5.

Sharp resistance quickly emerged, literally within minutes.

"We hung the number we thought was right, and then the market tells us what they think of it," Circa Sports director of operations Jeff Benson said. "The market disagreed with our adjustment on Deion's team and blasted us on the 'dog. We went from Nebraska +5 to +2. That could be people scalping to the market or not believing the hype.

"It will be fascinating to see the two-way action as limits rise."

Indeed, on Circa's opening odds, betting limits are $3,000 on a side and $1,000 on the total. Those limits rise significantly by kickoff Saturday – perhaps well into five figures on a side – as Circa writes more volume and the market matures.

Keep in mind that lookahead lines last week had Nebraska favored by 7.5 to 8.5 points. But Colorado's 45-42 road upset of No. 17 TCU, with the Buffaloes closing as 21-point underdogs, clearly carried a lot more weight than Nebraska's less-than-scintillating 13-10 loss as a 7.5-point underdog at Minnesota.

Circa's total was also jumped on from the get-go, plunging from 65.5 to 57. It's now settled at 58.5.

BetMGM opened the total at 70.5, fell to 68.5 by Tuesday and has been at 69 since Wednesday. It's two-way play with a lean toward the Over, at 56% of tickets/55% of money.

UPDATE 2 P.M. ET MONDAY: Oklahoma (1-0 SU and ATS) trampled Arkansas State 73-0 in Week 1, ostensibly covering twice over as a 36.5-point favorite. SMU (1-0 SU and ATS) claimed a 38-14 home win laying 21 points vs. Louisiana Tech.

This number has already made its way down to Oklahoma -16.5 twice at Caesars Sports. That's where the line currently sits, while the total is unchanged.

UPDATE 1:30 P.M. ET SATURDAY: Mississippi has returned to -7.5, juiced to -115, at BetMGM this afternoon. BetMGM trading team lead Seamus Magee implied that the book needs the home 'dog.

"Pros and Joes on Ole Miss here," Magee said. "Ole Miss is one of the sharper sides this week, with the public following suit."

The total climbed from 63.5 to 66.5, but today backed up to 64.5. Still, the bulk of tickets/money is on the Over.

UPDATE 1 P.M. ET FRIDAY: Mississippi hit BetMGM's college football odds Week 2 market as a 6.5-point point favorite and quickly backed up to -5.5 Sunday. But the line then steadily climbed, touching Rebels -7.5 multiple times before backing up to -7 (-115) moments ago.

Ticket count is almost 2/1 and money 3/1 on the favored Rebels. BetMGM opened the moneyline Monday at Ole Miss -300/Tulane +240 and is now at -275/+225. And the 'dog is the play so far, with tickets and money both 6/1 on the Green Wave.

BetMGM has seen the total climb from 63.5 to 66.5, with 62% of early tickets/73% of early cash on the Over.

UPDATE 2 P.M. ET MONDAY: Tulane, coming off a stout 12-2 SU and ATS campaign that included a Cotton Bowl win over USC, got its 2023 season off on the right foot. The Green Wave (1-0 SU and ATS) topped South Alabama 37-17 giving 6 points at home.

Mississippi (1-0 SU/0-0 ATS) pretty much scheduled a Week 1 walkover against FCS foe Mercer. The Rebels ran roughshod in a 73-7 victory laying 35.5 points at home.

TwinSpires is already up a half-point on the road chalk, to Mississippi -6.5. The Rebels are netting 55% of early spread tickets/66% of early spread cash.

"Some small sharp play on Ole Miss right as we opened," Lucas said.

The total hasn't moved off 62.5, with 64% of tickets/59% of money on the Over.

No. 23 Texas A&M vs Miami Odds

Matchup Spread Total Moneyline
  • Opening point spread: Texas A&M -5
  • Opening moneyline: Texas A&M -200/Miami +160
  • Opening total: Over/Under 48.5 points scored
  • Time: 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday (ABC)

UPDATE 1:30 P.M. ET SATURDAY: Just a few minutes ago, BetMGM's Seamus Magee had this to say: "We just don't want the game to land on A&M by 3. Miami +3.5 is a small loser."

However, moments later, Aggies by more than the current -3 became much more important.

"We just took some heavy Miami money on +3. The need is A&M," Magee said of wanting the Aggies to cover.

BetMGM had A&M -7.5 on a lookahead line, reopened Sunday at -4.5, then went to -5.5. But the line has crept down ever since, bottoming out at 3 flat this afternoon.

Conversely, the total rose from 47.5 to 50.5. Ticket count is 2.5/1 and money almost 4/1 on the Over.

UPDATE 1:30 P.M. ET THURSDAY: BetMGM opened this matchup Sunday evening at Notre Dame -7.5, and the line has been painted there ever since.

"Not a ton of movement here," BetMGM senior trader Cameron Drucker said, while noting that there's certainly liability, even minus line movement. "Early action is on Notre Dame, as you would expect. We will definitely be cheering for N.C. State come Saturday."

The total is seeing some movement. BetMGM opened at 50.5, toggled up to 51.5 a couple times early in the week and has been steady at 51 since Tuesday afternoon.

UPDATE 2 P.M. ET MONDAY: Notre Dame was the first FBS team out of the gate in 2023, taking on Navy in a neutral-site game in Dublin, Ireland. The Fighting Irish rumbled to a 42-3 victory as 20.5-point Week 0 favorites.

Then in Week 1, Notre Dame (2-0 SU and ATS) punched out FCS foe Tennessee State 56-3, cashing as a massive 48.5-point favorite.

North Carolina State (1-0 SU/0-1 ATS) wasn't as impressive in its season opener, but got a W nonetheless. The Wolfpack topped UConn 24-14, failing to cover as 14.5-point road favorites.

Caesars Sports opened this matchup earlier Sunday, and the underdog Wolfpack got hit in a hurry. A few minutes after opening, Notre Dame dropped from -9 to -8, and the number went to Irish -7.5 by Sunday evening, where it remains now.
