The Atlanta Falcons have lost three of the last five games but still remain in the hunt for a playoff spot. All wins for the Falcons have come against teams with below .500 records. In fact, all opponents that they have faced with a winning record has ended in a double-digit loss for the Falcons. This could be another tough matchup against 49ers team that has won four of the past five games.

After starting the season 2-4, the 49ers have turned their season around, winning five of the past seven games. After a huge win last week in Cincinnati, the Niners now find themselves in a wild card position with momentum on their side. With the Titans and Rams still remaining on the schedule, the 49ers will not want to lose this one.

People tend to forget that the 49ers were in the Super Bowl conversation prior to the start of the season. Injuries held them back to begin the year, but I think over the last seven weeks we have seen the team people expected to see. I like the 49ers in this one. Atlanta has yet to beat a winning team and I don’t see that changing this late into the season.

Atlanta is 6-7 ATS on the season but 5-1 ATS in their last six road games. The total has gone under in four of the last five games for the Falcons but over in 11 of the last 16 matchups against the 49ers. Atlanta is 0-4 SU and ATS against opponents with an above .500 record.

The Falcons offense ranks among the lower half of the league. Coming into week 15 they are averaging 316.4 total YPG (24th), 225.3 passing YPG (17th), 91.1 rushing YPG (27th), and 18.8 PPG (26th). With this kind of offensive production, its impressive that Atlanta is even in the playoff conversation. The best chance for Atlanta to succeed in this one will be to get RB Cordarrelle Patterson going early to open up the passing game for QB Matt Ryan.

Atlanta’s defense ranks about the same as the offense. Up to this point they are allowing 364.5 total YPG (24th), 247.5 passing YPG (21st), 117.1 rushing YPG (23rd), and 27.2 PPG (28th). They will have to be much better on Sunday against the red hot 49ers.

San Francisco 49ers Betting Analysis

The 49ers come into this game having won and covered in four of the last five games. The total has gone over in five of the last seven home games for the niners as well as four of the past five games when playing the Falcons. In the last 13 meetings at home against Atlanta the Niners have gone 9-4 ATS.

San Francisco’s offense ranks in the upper half of the league. Entering week 15 they are averaging 364.3 total YPG (12th), 240.4 passing YPG (14th), 123.9 rushing YPG (8th), and 25.3 PPG (13th). San Francisco prefers to have a balanced attack on offense. This will be the perfect matchup for them to do so as Atlanta struggles in all defensive categories. Look for WR Deebo Samuel and RB Elijah Mitchell to both have big games.

The 49ers defense has preformed well thus far. On the season they are allowing 325.4 total YPG (8th), 213.2 passing YPG (5th), 112.2 rushing YPG (17th), and 23.2 PPG (20th). Don’t be surprised if San Francisco has a huge day on the defensive side of the ball, and expect them to put pressure on Ryan. Coming into this game the 49ers are averaging 2.5 sacks per game (9th).

With the way the San Francisco has been playing it would be hard for me to bet against them. Not to mention the Falcons have yet to prove themselves against a quality team. This game should be all Niners and I’ll take them up to –10 in this one.

Bettors should also keep an eye on total yards for 49ers TE George Kittle. Kittle is coming off a 13 reception, 151 yard performance in Cincinnati and should have another huge game this week.
