New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins Predictions

After finishing second in the AFC East with a record of 10-6 last year, Miami stumbled out to an incredibly disappointing start this season, as the Dolphins kicked things off with losses in seven of their first eight games – with Miami’s only victory across that span coming in an ugly low- scoring battle against the Patriots (W, 17-16).

The Dolphins have been red hot since their 1-7 skid to start the year though, considering Miami now enters Week 15 riding a five-game winning streak – with three of those victories coming by a double-digit margin.

On the other hand, New York posted a mildly encouraging start to the new season, as the Jets went just 2-5 SU and ATS across the first seven weeks of the season – yet their two wins came in tough matchups against the Bengals and Titans, giving Jets’ fans a bit of hope heading into the back half.

The Jets have been awful since their Week 8 win over Cincinnati though, considering New York enters Sunday’s contest following losses in five of the last six games – with their only victory across that stretch coming against the Texans.

I’ll take the under here, as Zach Wilson and company likely won’t find much success against a Miami defense that surrendered just 11 PPG across Weeks 9 through 13 – while the Dolphins’ offense doesn’t typically light up the scoreboard either, averaging just 23.2 PPG across their current five-game winning streak.

New York Jets Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 3-10
  • ATS: 3-10
  • O/U: 7-6
  • ATS - Away: 1-5

After selecting Wilson with the second pick in the latest draft, New York wasn’t expected to flip the script immediately within the AFC East – but it’s fair to say that the magnitude of the Jets’ early struggles wasn’t entirely expected either, considering New York scored just 6.7 PPG on 250 YPG across the first three weeks of the season.

The Jets’ offensive woes have persisted through the back half of the season as well, considering New York enters Week 15 ranked 29th in scoring and 22nd in total offense (17.6 PPG, 321.5 YPG).

Miami Dolphins Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 6-7
  • ATS: 7-5-1
  • O/U: 5-8
  • ATS - Home: 4-3

After a strong 10-6 regular-season showing last year, the Dolphins posted an incredibly underwhelming start to this season, as Miami opened with a 1-7 SU and 2-6 ATS skid – while averaging just 14.8 PPG across that window.

Miami’s offense still isn’t great, but it’s getting much better, considering the Dolphins are 5-0 SU and ATS across their latest five-game stretch – while averaging a modest 23.2 PPG across that timeframe.

New York has failed to cover the spread in five of its last six road games. (AP)

New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins Betting Conclusion

After extending their winning streak to five games last week prior to their Week 14 bye, the Dolphins will enter Sunday afternoon’s contest as 9.5-point favorites over the visiting Jets – marking the first time New York has been an underdog of nine points or more since late October.

I’ll take the under here, as the Dolphins’ defense will likely control the pace of this contest, having surrendered 10 PTS or less in three of the last four games (11.4 PPG) – but their offense is still yet to achieve a heightened level of efficiency where I feel comfortable backing them at such a hefty price tag (19.6 PPG).
