Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants Predictions

The Cowboys enter week 15 coming off a 27-20 win plus cover over the Washington Football Team. Dallas is atop the NFC East with a chance to secure a playoff spot as well as the division on Sunday. A Dallas win plus Washington loss/tie secures the division while a win plus a loss by either New Orleans or San Francisco will put them in the playoffs indefinitely.

The New York Giants have lost four of their past six games and find themselves in last place of the NFC East. Once again, Giants fans will see QB Mike Glennon under center as Daniel Jones will sit out for the third straight week with a neck injury. The Giants have averaged just 12.3 points in their last three games and have shown no signs of turning that trend around.

Dallas should handle the Giants with ease come Sunday. With a chance to clinch the playoffs and the division don’t expect them to take their foot off the gas. The last meeting between these two teams was week five, a game Dallas won 44-20. This game should not be much different.

Dallas Cowboys Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 9-4
  • ATS: 10-3
  • O/U: 6-7
  • ATS - Away: 6-1

The Cowboys have been more than kind to bettors this season with a 10-3 ATS record. The total has gone over just six times on the season, with the under hitting in seven games. Dallas is 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against the Giants, and the total has gone over in five of the past six meetings between the two teams.

Dallas’s offense has been on a roll all season long, ranking as one of the best in the league. They come into this game averaging 29.2 PPG (2nd), 409.1 total YPG (2nd), 280.6 passing YPG (4th), and 128.5 rushing YPG (6th). Dak Prescott (QB) will look to clean up his performance after throwing two interceptions and only one touchdown last week against Washington. Expect big numbers from Ezekiel Elliot (RB) and the rest of the backfield as New York is allowing 125 rushing YPG which ranks 25th in the NFL.

The Cowboy’s defense has been causing trouble for offenses all season. They currently rank first in the NFL in interceptions (20), second in total takeaways (27), and 13th in sacks per game (2.4) They have been giving up quite a bit of yards to teams, allowing 361.1 total YPG (23rd), 250.8 passing YPG (23rd), and 110.2 rushing YPG (15th). Despite allowing teams to move the ball they are holding opponents to 22.1 PPG which ranks 12th in the NFL.

New York Giants Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 4-9
  • ATS: 6-7
  • O/U: 4-8-1
  • ATS - Home: 3-3

The Giants are 6-7 ATS on the season and just 8-16 ATS in their last 24 at home. The total has gone over in four games for the Giants this season and has gone under in nine of their last 10 at home. New York has not given bettors any reason to back them thus far and that should be no different this week.

New York’s Offense ranks in the bottom half of the league. Entering week 15 they are averaging 312.2 total YPG (25th), 217.9 passing YPG (20th), 94.2 rushing YPG (26th), and 17.8 PPG (27th). Backup Glennon will need to play better if they want any chance in this one. In his three games played this season Glennon has thrown four interceptions, three touchdowns, averaged 194 passing YPG, and completed 53% of his passes. RB Saquon Barkley will also need to step it up as he has yet to rush for 100 yards in a game this season.

The Giant's defense has performed no better than the offense on the season. Allowing 369.7 total YPG (26th), 244.7 passing YPG (19th), 125 rushing YPG (25th), and 23.8 PPG (21st). They have seen some success in creating turnovers, forcing 19 on the year (13 INT, 6 INT), which ranks 12th in the NFL. They will need all the help they can get going up against the Cowboys high powered offense.

Dallas has covered the spread in six of its last seven road games. (AP)

Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants Betting Conclusion

The line for this game opened at 10.5 and has moved up to 11.5 some places, others still have the line at 10.5. Either way I like the Cowboys in this one up to –14. The Giants have had no offense as of late and allowed 37 points against the Chargers last week. With a 10-3 ATS record, the Cowboys are the team to back in this one.

The total for this game opened at 45 and has since dropped to 44.5 at most books. The Cowboys will more than likely do their part, but the Giants cannot be trusted to score points the way they have been playing. I would have to lean towards the under, but this is a game that Dallas could very well score 45 in. Sticking with the spread, Cowboys –10.5.
