Penn State and Texas Go Down: How This Affects Their Championship Odds/AP Polling

UPDATE: Penn State and Texas are both OUTSIDE of the top-25 in the newest AP POLL.
Week 6 of college football brought chaos. While the slate was not as big as the previous week, a few upsets shook up 2025 college football as we know it. Penn State fell to winless UCLA by a score of 42-37, after suffering a home loss at the hands of the Oregon Ducks the week before.
On the other hand, Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns fell to Florida at the swamp by a score of 29-21, failing both of their major tests this season. These losses had major implications on their National Championship odds from the beginning of the season.
In addition, Drew Allar and Arch Manning have both plummeted in the Heisman race. I will check the latest Heisman odds and see where they currently stand.
PENN STATE AND TEXAS' NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS ARE DOWN
The Texas Longhorns opened the season as the second favorite to win the National Championship, with +550 odds only behind The Ohio State Buckeyes. They are now currently +1800 at DraftKings and ESPN Bet to win it all with two losses. Texas still has Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, Georgia, and Texas A&M on their schedule.

As for Penn State, they opened the season as the 5th favorite to win it all, at +850. The teams favored above them were Ohio State, Texas, Georgia, and Oregon who they lost to in week 5. As it stands now, the Penn State Nittany Lions are +3000 to win it all. They are behind teams like LSU, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss.
Penn State will have an opportunity to take down #1 Ohio State in the beginning of November, and Indiana the following week.
DREW ALLAR AND ARCH MANNING CRASH IN THE HEISMAN ODDS
Arch Manning opened the 2025 season as the Heisman favorite, and to no surprise. Between name and hype, this was not shocking. However, after losses to Ohio State and Florida with lackluster showings Arch is now all the way down to +10000 to win the Heisman at bet365.

Allar on the other hand, started the season a bit lower on the list, at +1600. He was behind names like Cade Klubnik, Jeremiah Smith, and Garrett Nussmeier. After losing to UCLA, Allar finds himself at +20000 at ESPN BET.
