Before we know it, college football season will be upon us. [...] released several lines on Week 1 contests that will no doubt have an impact on the College Football Playoff for the 2017 season.

The spotlight contest takes place in the unveiling of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta as Alabama faces Florida State on Saturday September 2. The Crimson Tide will be playing their first game since losing in the final seconds of the National Championship to Clemson, but Alabama opened up as a 4 ½-point favorite. The Seminoles closed last season with an underdog victory over Michigan in the Orange Bowl, but FSU lost standout running back Dalvin Cook to the NFL draft.

The Crimson Tide owns a 4-0 record in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game, while the Seminoles are making the first appearance. However, the ACC has slumped to a 1-7 record in this contest, as North Carolina fell short against Georgia last September in the final installment of this game at the Georgia Dome.

Another neutral-site game to keep an eye on takes place in Arlington, Texas at AT&T Stadium between Florida and Michigan. The Wolverines whipped the Gators in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl to close out the 2015 season, 41-7 in Jim Harbaugh’s first season as head coach of Michigan. The Gators are playing their first non-conference game out of the Sunshine State since 1991 at Syracuse, as Florida is nearly a touchdown underdog at +6 ½.

The Cowboys Classic has been dominated by the SEC over the years with the conference compiling a perfect 5-0 record, including Alabama’s rout of USC last season. The Big Ten has struggled in a limited sample size by posting an 0-2 mark, including Wisconsin falling to Alabama in 2015.

Virginia Tech makes the short trip to Landover, Maryland to face West Virginia during the opening weekend. The Hokies lost the season opener at FedEx Field to Boise State in a 33-30 shootout, while the Mountaineers are facing Virginia Tech for the first time since 2005.

Tennessee has won five straight neutral site games since 2014, although the Volunteers travel to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech. It will be the second contest played that weekend at Mercedes-Benz Stadium (the new home of the Falcons), as the Volunteers beat Virginia Tech in a neutral-site affair last season at Bristol Motor Speedway. Georgia Tech is playing a neutral site affair in the season opener for the second straight year after edging Boston College in Dublin, Ireland last September.
