MATCHUPS TO WATCH

ALABAMA (-2.5) AT LSU

Winning a college football national championship required the Tigers to survive Alabama 46-41 in Tuscaloosa last season, snapping an eight-game losing streak in the series. LSU scored more points in the victory than it had against the Crimson Tide in the five previous years combined. It hasn’t defeated ‘Bama in Baton Rouge since 2010 and has lost six of the last seven matchups in Louisiana against former coach Nick Saban. The Tide is 5-2 ATS against the Tigers over the last seven.

USC AT OREGON (-3.5)

The Ducks have won three of the last four over the Trojans and are 3-1 in Eugene since 2007. There have been at least 65 points scored in each of the last games seven games in this series. In that span, Oregon is 5-2 in that span, winning by an average of 45.9-34 and scoring at least 47 points in each of its wins.

CLEMSON (-7.5) AT NOTRE DAME

Clemson has defeated Notre Dame in three straight meetings, most recently winning a national semifinal at the Cotton Bowl 30-3 on Dec. 29, 2018. On paper, this is expected to be the largest hurdle for the Tigers to make a sixth consecutive College Football Playoff appearance.

WEEK 13

MATCHUPS TO WATCH

MICHIGAN AT OHIO STATE (-11.5)

One of college football’s best rivalries has been one-sided since the turn of the century. The Buckeyes are 17-2 since 2001and have scored a remarkable 118 points in their last two wins over Michigan. Jim Harbaugh is winless since taking over and 2-3 ATS. The Wolverines last won in 2011 but haven’t prevailed in Columbus since 2000 so they’ll be looking to avoid a 10th consecutive setback at the Horseshoe.

AUBURN AT ALABAMA (-13.5)

The 2019 Iron Bowl featured a missed short ‘Bama field goal and a penalty on a punt formation that cost it a chance at one last possession. The Tigers have won two of the past three matchups, the first time that’s happened in this series since they won six straight from ’02-’07. Auburn will look for wins over the Tide in back-to-back years for the first time since ’06-’07 but are just 1-5 in Tuscaloosa since that streak ended.

NOTRE DAME AT USC (PK)

The Fighting Irish are looking for their first four-game win streak in this series since they claimed 10 consecutive victories from ’83-’93. USC lost in L.A. in ’18 but have covered at home in each of the last three meetings at the Coliseum. The Trojans will be looking to take back the Jeweled Shillelagh but could be preparing for a Pac-12 Championship game the following week. This will be Notre Dame’s regular-season finale.
