UPDATE 11:30 A.M. ET SATURDAY, DEC. 23: With kickoff looming, Arkansas State is -2.5 (-115) at BetMGM. The Red Wolves opened -1.5 on Dec. 4, went to -1 Dec. 5 and stuck there until going to -2.5 Monday. Tuesday brought a move to -3, and Arkansas State went to -2.5 (-115) Friday.
Opinion is split at BetMGM, with 59% of tickets on Northern Illinois/64% of money on Arkansas State. However, there's more consensus on the moneyline, where 85% of tickets/90% of dollars are on the underdog Huskies.
The total moved from 51.5 to 53.5 within a few hours on Dec. 3, then spent much of this past week at 54.5. It's now at 53.5, with 73% of tickets/87% of money on the Over.
UPDATE 8 P.M. ET FRIDAY, DEC. 22: Arkansas State (6-6 SU/7-5 ATS) opened -1 back on Dec. 4 at DraftKings Sportsbook. A day later, the Camellia Bowl line jumped the fence, with Northern Illinois (6-6 SU/5-7 ATS) favored by 1.
By Dec. 13, the favorite flipped again, with the Red Wolves moving to -2.5. Arkansas State got to -3 Tuesday, then returned to -2.5 Thursday. The Red Wolves are drawing 60% of spread bets/69% of spread money. Arkansas State is seeing similar action on the moneyline.
DK's total spent most of the month toggling between 53.5 and 54. Thursday brought moves to 54.5/55, then back to 54.5. The Over is seeing 64% of bets/72% of money.

Action Network college football betting expert Collin Wilson offers this prediction:
Arkansas State is the better team in areas outside of the win-loss column. All six of the Red Wolves' losses came against bowl teams, while Northern Illinois took four losses to non-bowl teams.
The Huskies rank near dead last in strength of schedule, while Arkansas State logged 77 points against a fellow Sun Belt bowl team in Texas State in Week 12.
The Red Wolves will get their offensive line anchor back at center in Jacob Bayer, pumping up the inside zone attack led by quarterback Jaylen Raynor.
Northern Illinois has posted a subpar Success Rate against inside zone at 44%.
Red Wolves head coach Butch Jones is 5-1 against the spread in bowl games, and now he's looking to log an outright win in Montgomery, Alabama.

Camellia Bowl History
The Camellia Bowl bowl began in 2014, and the matchup currently features schools from the Sun Belt and Mid-American Conference (MAC). The game takes place at the Cramton Bowl from Montgomery, Alabama.
Bowling Green captured the inaugural Camellia Bowl with a 33-28 victory against South Alabama. In the first two games of this bowl game, the 'over' cashed each time, averaging a total of 60.5 points.
Appalachian State won both the 2015 and 2016 editions, and both victories came on a late field goal for the Mountaineers. In 2017, it was Middle Tennessee State of Conference USA springing the slight upset over Arkansas State, 35-30.
Georgia Southern slipped past Eastern Michigan in 2018, but failed to cover as a short favorite. The Sun Belt made it four wins in five seasons when Arkansas State knocked off FIU as a slight underdog in 2019, as 'dogs improved to 4-2 ATS all-time in this bowl.
In the 2020 version, Buffalo helped the MAC regain some revenge with a 17-10 win over Marshall of the Conference USA. But in 2021, it was Georgia State of the Sun Belt Conference putting it on Ball State of the MAC, winning 51-20 to nearly take care of the 'over' themselves.
Underdogs have won each of the last two Camellia Bowls outright, capped off by Northern Illinois edging Arkansas State, 21-19 in 2023.
