L.A. Bowl Betting Odds

UCLA @ BOISE Odds

  • Opening point spread: UCLA -2.5
  • Opening moneyline: UCLA -135/Boise State +115
  • Opening total: Over/Under 49.5 points scored
  • Time: 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday, Dec. 16 (ABC)

UPDATE 7 P.M. ET SATURDAY, DEC. 16: With kickoff 30 minutes out, BetMGM Nevada is at UCLA -6.5. This line has seen a lot of movement, opening at Bruins -2.5 and initially backing up to -1.5 on Dec. 4.

But that same day, UCLA rebounded to -3, then steadily climbed this past week to the current -6.5.

"Tickets are 1.5/1 in favor of UCLA, but money is almost 2/1 on Boise State. And there's nothing really big, either," BetMGM Nevada's Scott Shelton said. "On the moneyline, tickets are 2/1 Boise State, but money is really close. Right now, we want UCLA. Bruins by a touchdown would be good. We actually need favorite and Over."

The total opened at 49.5, peaked at 50.5 Dec. 4 and has since dropped down to 47. Ticket count at BetMGM Nevada is 2/1 and money 4/1 on the Under.

UPDATE 2:30 P.M. ET FRIDAY, DEC. 15: UCLA is up to 4.5-point chalk in BetMGM's college football bowl odds market. The Bruins opened -2.5 and initially backed up to -1.5 Dec. 4, then slowly climbed to the current number.

Part of the reason for the climb: Boise State QB Taylen Green entered the transfer portal and is heading to Arkansas. True freshman C.J. Tiller is expected to start for the Broncos.

All that noted, spread bets are 2/1 and spread money almost 5/1 on underdog Boise State.

The total shifted from 49.5 to 50.5 on Dec. 4, returned to 49.5 Dec. 6, then went to 48.5 Tuesday. It's now 48.5 (Under -115), with bet count 4/1 and money 8/1 on the Under. By ticket count, UCLA-Boise State is the most-bet Under of all bowl games at BetMGM.

L. A. Bowl Pick, Prediction

Action Network college football betting expert Collin Wilson offers this prediction:

Boise State was on a heater, winning at the end of November before the computers sent the Broncos to Las Vegas for the Mountain West Championship.

The conference championship victory over UNLV cemented Spencer Danielson as the Broncos' head coach, but Boise still lost quarterback Taylen Green to the transfer portal was expected.

The Broncos will be one-dimensional in this bowl game, relying on star running back Ashton Jeanty for offensive production.

UCLA head coach Chip Kelly has been swimming through the rumor mill of coaches to be fired thanks to an offense with poor ball discipline and red-zone efficiency.

With Dante Moore in the transfer portal, quarterbacks Ethan Garbers and Collin Schlee will face a Boise defense that doesn't create much Havoc.

Back the better defense in this game with so many offensive questions, as a cast of UCLA defenders will tee off on the Broncos offense.

Pick: UCLA -4

L.A. Bowl History

The L.A. Bowl is slated to make its sequel in December 2022 after its first ever showing in 2021. This is the only bowl named after a person instead of a sponsor, as it's name for late-night talk host Jimmy Kimmel.

This bowl pits teams from the Pac-12 Conference and the Mountain West Conference, as the MWC champion will appear in this game at the home of the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers at SoFi Stadium.

Favorites have gone 2-1 both straight up and against the spread since the bowl began and all three games have been decided by double digits.
